I had decided at the beginning of this year that I was going to start PL in August when DD was off to preschool and we had moved. Well, we're not moving just yet, DD is not going to preschool, and I'm working FT outside the house.

For those of you who are not SAHMs, how do you manage PL? What do you take pictures of?

While DD is with my ILs during the day, MIL is notorious for not remembering to take pictures, so I know I can't 'count' on her for regular pictures of what she and DD do all day. I certainly can't take pictures of my desk every day. :giggle I love the concept of PL, but not sure how I would keep it interesting enough for me to want to continue with it on a weekly basis when I'm sitting in an office 35 hours a week, kwim?

Maybe I'm overthinking this...

I'm a SAHM mom but I don't even try to do it on a weekly basis. I look at it more as a monthly overview. Maybe if you thought of it that way it would be easier to do. You could incorporate more photos for when you are with your family vs the rest of the week (though a picture of your desk once in a while would be cool too).

I work 3 days a week... On monday lina stays with dad and he takes photos usually... If not I take one before she goes to bed. On tuesday she comes with me to daycare (where i work) and take a photo there with my iphone, on friday lina is with my parents and they never forget, they take lots of photos which they email me over the weekend... I don't always bring my camera anymore, ever since I got my iphone... So easy!

Have you shown your MIL what a PL album looks like? Maybe if she understood what you were trying to document for your daughter and that it would show her daily life and what they used to do with her when she was "little", she might get on board. Having a point and shoot that you drop off there everyday or keeping it with her clothes and stuff, they might remember to take a photo of something cool that day.

I'm also a proponent of it doesn't have to be 7 days. You could do either one or two 2 page spreads per month and still get the same everyday feel.

While I work my kids are at school or camp. We take photos at the end of the day and a lot on the weekend. I also use stock photos or photos on the Internet to represent things they are doing. I've been Sick for three weeks and haven't taken many photos. ThAts going to be challenging for me to scrap. I'm going to at least for the first two weeks just do one pagers.

LA, I used to follow a blog where the lady did only one page a week for PL because she worked too. I don't have the link any more or I would link you up. Her pages looked fab even though they only had a few pics from the week, and I still could tell what she had done that week with her family. I think since you work filling up one page would be more manageable for you, but still capture life perfectly. Not all your pockets have to pics either. They could be fun artwork your DD is doing, or ticket stub from a movie you and hubby went to.

Thanks, guys! I *was* totally overthinking this.

Now to have to decide digital vs. paper... :giggle

I work full-time outside the home, and most weeks, I have plenty to use on my project life. Generally, the weekdays end up being slim, except for a few funny faces on the way to school/daycare, but i make up for that on the weekend. I take way too many pictures, though, so maybe that's why.

I think that once school starts back and both of my boys are in school, I will have even less pictures because I won't be taking them to school or daycare each day, they'll both go to school with their daddy, but I hope to make up for it on the weekends.

Oh, and silly quotes from kids go a looooong way in project life. I usually have at least 2 quotes for slots in my PL.

I have fallen off quite a bit since January and reallly need to catch up on my pages...but...my first reminder to myself : not worry about having a photo for every single day. I use the note app on my phone, email, record memos, blog...I use something to record little conversations or memories or random thoughts. Some mornings I will get photos before I take my daughter to day care or I will take a photo of her when we get home with her little crafts she has made during the day. It mostly just depends on the week I have had.

Giving the people who watch them a camera is a great idea. You can also just do like weekend photos or a month in review type album. Personally I find digital must faster than paper but that's just me. I could never keep up with paper.
