I'm not a designer so I'm not in the know about the ins and outs of the business end of designing. Over the years I have seen designers move from one shop to another. I was wondering what are some of the reasons for the moves. Sometimes designers give reasons but most of the time they don't.

Usually it's just a business decision.. The designer and store are no longer compatible for whatever reason - sales, management style, level of support, etc.. Or something more subjective like the designer's style changing and it no longer jives with the customer base. . If you asked 10 designers, you'd probably get 8-10 different answers under that umbrella, and maybe 1 or 2 that were more personal..

I am not a designer either, but I know that for as many designers that are out there, there are an equal amount of reasons for leaving/changing stores. Some have "dream stores" and get a chance to go to those. Stores have different policies on sales or design requirements, so they move to a store that fits their needs. Some leave because their original store closed or came under new management. Some take a guest spot and find that the guest store/forum is a better fit for their designs. It really is very individual to a designer's needs (which can change over time).

Thanks for the input. From the scrapper's point of view, change is hard, but I get it, from the designer's point of view it is business as well as passion.
