Does anyone else suffer from this? Its most common for people who live in darker climates, but for me its about the cold. In Alberta we have long cold winters with quite a bit of sun, but the cold really affects me and every January & February i get depressed to a certain degree. I function but its forced and I feel blah until we get some warmer temps then it just disappears. It doesn't seem to help if I bundle up and spend time outside or even exercise, I get it. Anyone else have this?

Ugh yes!! I'm not in a darker area either, but being stuck in the house and contending with seasonal bugs...yeah. I'm right there with you and so so ready for spring and happiness :)

I experience this too, but just a little. I heard that lamp therapy does wonders!

well for me it would have to be a heat lamp, lol
LOL I getcha.. for me it is snuggling next to my heated hubby in bed with my cold paws :giggle
But we had very little sun this winter :( Last sunday it peeped through a few hours and my day was a whole lot brighter :luvya

Even here in Florida, I have the issue when I can't get out into the sun at least a little during the day. Leaving for work in the dark and getting home while it's dark makes me grumpy.

Winters are practically non existent in NM and I STILL get this way every January and February. I hate winter. Hate hate. And our springs are miserable because it is nasty windy. I just love summer. That is all. LOL our autumn is pretty fabulous too. On occasion we have super amazing winter and spring days. Like this weekend was 70. I was in heaven. Today is 40 and windy. Yuck.

For me it's the rain. It doesn't get really cold or snowy but we get days upon days of rain which makes me feel blah. To perk myself up I take more vitamin B, get outdoors whenever the rain lets up and get a few projects going in the home. Right now I am sorting thru my magazines and cutting out any articles I want to keep. I can't wait for summer to come.

Even though its cold here (24 degrees this am), its typically gorgeous and sunny. Right now I am looking at the brightest, clearest blue sky! So I can handle the cold if I dont have the clouds and grey, rainy skies. This was s major motivator when we moved almost 5 years ago!

I totally do - even in sunny alberta. I grew up with GREEN grass all year round so 6 months of winter just seems wrong. I just want to see some colour beside grey, white and brown, even on sunny days!! 2 more months till spring...

If it's gray for too long then I find myself feeling lethargic and sad. If I get some exposure to blue skies things are better. I open all the blinds in my office on sunny days to try to soak up as much as possible.

The short days can't be avoided, though. That part sucks. I've started getting up earlier just to increase the amount of time I'm exposed to daylight.

And I take liquid Vitamin D. But I don't know how much of an effect that has.

Winter is just the worst.

yea and after all the snow and cold we can look forward to spring aka the muddy road season where everything is brown and gross.

Interesting how you find Alberta sunny! I always get pretty down in January and February, but I started taking a relatively large dose of Vitamin D this year and it hasn't been nearly as bad as previous winters. Don't think we've seen grass here since Halloween and I am really ready for winter to be over already.

compared to where I grew up & winters were RAIN, alberta is sunny :) Altho this year has been more grey than normal I think.
