I'm so sad to hear the news of her death! Some of the first tapes I owned were her albums and my choir sang the Greatest Love of All when I was in the fourth grade. I listened to those songs over and over. It was so to see her struggle with drugs and problems in the last decade or so.
I'm listening to some of her songs on YouTube (because I still have her songs on cassette and never upgraded!) while I scrap tonight. :(

Not surprising but totally sad, such a wasted talent in recent years. I juuuuuust put on some her songs for a little reminiscing.

Ditto Laura - not surprising, but so sad. She was an amazing singer, and could have done so much more with her life and her career

Yeah I just saw too and it really is so sad. She was too young and too talented.

why can't some of these uber talented people figure out the "normal" day to day? she truly had a gift~

So sad... I really thought she'll pull through... But really... She was very much a part of my childhood. Her songs are practically etched in my brain as my parents are huge fans and eventually I am too... :(

I used to listen to her cassettes on my walkman too back in the day, such talent gone,I hope she is at peace now

This broke my heart a little to hear of her passing. She had a wonderful voice! I would've thought with all the relatives she had that was in the business that she could've received some help to pull her out of the destruction she was doing to herself.

This is just so sad! Her music was such a part of my growing up. So much fame, so much money... and it all leads to drugs, addiction, abuse. And it seems no one was able to get through to her, to help her.

I know...just so terribly sad. She's the same age as me, which is just scary. She had such a beautiful voice. I still remember her singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl...to me, the standard to which all other performers should live up to...What a total waste. :(
