When I Was a Child…

Hairdresser is another popular one but I’ve always been hair challenged so I never wanted that job.

I've had short hair all my life. My dad made my mom take me to get it cut when I started chewing on it! At least it was fashionable in the 60s. Not so much in the 70s, but by the 80s it was definitely cool again!
 
In grade school I wanted to be a teacher. As a young adult, I almost went back to school for psychology but b/c of my kids I thought the schedule would be too much to handle but I sure was tempted. I wanted to work in social work.
 
Wife and mother … spent 50 years raising kids. First my two, then my daughter’s.

And I’ve spent nearly 47 years doing the job I swore I’d never do after working in my dad’s law office the summer I was 14 … working as his secretary, paralegal, receptionist, bookkeeper, etc.

I’m impressed by how many people go back to school. I agree that the schedule seems like too much to handle.

Crazy that you did what you wanted AND what you didn’t want.

I did become the first. I have tried a few times to be hired by the library to no avail. I have written quite a bit but the only things published so far is a poem in my high school literature magazine and some blog posts.
