So all of this talk about holidays and family visits and parties and get togethers has me feeling a little hungry. :giggle

Whatcha cookin'?
What do you typically serve this time of year?

:pigout

We generally have a traditional dinner: ham/turkey, cornbread dressing and the fixings. Similar to Thanksgiving, but a little different.
This year it is just DH, myself, and the kids. We opted for something a little simpler. This year we are having brisket, cheesy potato bake, bacon wrapped green beans, and either a corn casserole or candied yams, with rolls. I'll slap together an apple crisp for dessert. :yowza

Now I'm really hungry.

I'm a nurse without children and therefore volunteer to work Christmas if it's not my holiday to work. I'll be making taco dip for all the girls at work to enjoy.

I'll be heading to my nephews in the morning where I can enjoy my sister in laws french toast bake.

We have two pecan pies in oven, the house smells heavenly. The littles actually picked the pecans last week, and we all cracked them this morning.
Then two pumpkin going in.
Spiral big ham for tomorrow along with a boneless to make sure there is enough
green bean casserole (fam fav)
bacon/scalloped pots (from a box, thank you Betty Crocker)
mac and cheese (Velvetta shells by popular vote)
peas
rolls
and we cook it and it sits in crock pots and we nibble all day long with friends and play games, with toys and me
I smile and snap a million photos!

I'm currently cooking chicken soup to nibble on today before/after Christmas Eve service.

We ALWAYS do traditional Christmas stuff (Turkey/ham/dressing/trimmings) but this year my mother went a little crazy. We are having Shrimp Creole. WHAT?

I'm in charge of the Chicken fingers for the kids (and grown-ups) who won't like the shrimp.

Weird, right? :giggle

Jessica, you are so kind to volunteer to work during the holiday. Oh how I love a good dip!! ;)
The baked french toast sounds yum.

It all sounds so heavenly Anne! :wub

I wonder if that is a southern thing? My dad always offers to make shrimp/sausage gumbo for Christmas dinner. I enjoy eating it over making it. :giggle I am also one of the few in the family that will eat it, so when dad offers to make it, I say go for it man!!

Are you ready?

NOTHING!

To hell in a hand basket! I am not feeling good! We don't even have cookies for santa! HELP!!!!!!!!

We are going for dinner at a friend's house, I plan to pass out thanks to a good dose of medicated cough syrup that the doc gave Bianca (which I am STEALING, yes, put the big NAUGHTY sign on top of my head!).

We are doing homemade pizza tonight (dough in the bread machine now). We have eggs and bacon and cinnamon rolls/toast for breakfast on Christmas morning. Tomorrow evening, it's a Mexican food fiesta at my best friend's home. We all wanted more non-traditional for Christmas this year.

I premade a ham and shredded it . . . tomorrow will throw it in the oven with some brown sugar and dry mustard and we'll have ham and biscuit sandwiches with baked mac n cheese, pasta/veggie/mozz salad and fruit salad for folks dropping by all day. Tonight we're heading to my sisters where we'll have shrimp and appetizers. I did make some mini banana/walnut/choc chip breads today for gifts, along with cookies. Getting ready to make some salted caramel rice krispy treats too . . . they are a fav!

Ugh...Dalis...sending healthy vibes your way. I'm just recovering from a nasty virus for the last 10 days or so. It's no fun being sick at Xmas time. Hope you feel well enough to enjoy Christmas dinner.

Tonight we're having some family over. Nothing fancy. I'm still recovering from being sick so taking it easy. I'm cooking up a batch of crockpot beef/hashbrown casserole, chicken wings, artichoke dip and crackers/cheese/salami.

Tomorrow my daughter will cook the turkey and we'll have mashed potatoes (cauliflower mash for me), turkey, cranberry sauce, gravy, dressing (not for me), maple syrup tarragon carrots and corn. I'm bringing butter tarts and tonight I'll make some chocolate/cheese balls (low carb dessert I can eat).

I've got some brie/apple stuffed chicken for Boxing Day dinner.

I have no idea what's for dinner tonight - I'm going by my brother's for Noche Buena. We used to have proper Cuban food - but my nieces and nephew are weirdos and they don't like it. So last year my SIL made shrimp and something else, which I didn't like so I ate cheese!

For Christmas Day, we're doing small plates and appetizers. I'm making buffalo chicken pinwheels and chorizo/cheese/olive apps. I also made mint chocolate chip cookies and chocolate covered cherry cookies. I'm sure we'll have lots of other yummy things, too.

Dalis...
I say "postpone" Christmas except for maybe the Santa part if Bianca is keeping up with the days. :)
((Hugs)) Hope you feel better soon!

Stacy, that menu would make me perfectly happy! Mexican food is perfect any time in my book!

This is a very true statement!!
I hear that Santa likes Oreos ;)

Oh Lori, you will have to share the salted caramel rice krispy treat recipe. I am pretty sure I have all the ingredients for that on hand, with exception to the caramels, which we cannot keep in this house - totally my fault! :giggle

Being sick around the holidays is no fun. Glad you are feeling better Rae. It sounds like you are on the mend.

Robin, I really like the appetizer idea. I would really like to do something like this for one of our parties next year. The shot glass desserts look so pretty on pinterest. :)

I am making Shrimp Scampi... with just Hubby & me we have been having this for Christmas every year... :)

My daughter is one of those weirdos, she can't stand any caribbean influenced food. It makes my heart cry.

OH GIRL, she has been working on the countdown since last week!

Dalis, what is happening to these kids! LOL!!! They don't know what they're missing out on.

I stopped at Wendy's for dinner on my way to my brother's. Isn't that sad LOL!!!!!

We get to spend Xmas with all my family in France and it's been maybe 11 years we haven't so I hope all will go ok lol We are supposed to make some maki sushi (rolled sushis) so I hope I won't mess things up lol
It's gonna be a non typical Xmas lunch : fried spring rolls (my aunt's ex was half vietnamese so she got the recipe from her MIL), my cousin will make some dumplings I think, our maki, it's gonna be Asia at the table lol
