Okay, I posted this as my status earlier, but thought more people would see this here.
What do you scrap when you've scrapped your photo stash?

Let me expound:
I took the weekend to go through ALL of my photos. I decided that lots of random everyday photos I will get printed in albums, WITHOUT scrapping them. I've had a long standing fight with getting albums printed since they are so expensive. And this year I really want to get these photos out of my hard drive and into real hands. So I made the decision to forego scrapping Every. Single. Thing.
The purge alone helped me let go of a lot of my photo stash, especially older photos when my kids were young and I just snapped pic after pic after pic just because they were so cute. lol
And since I scrap a lot anyway, I've got all of the newer events, moments, etc, scrapped. With my kids now in middle school & not as eager to jump in front of the lens and the fact that I'm actually Phone-less (for the past 3 months) I don't lug out my DSLR everyday just to take random photos.

So that leaves me where I am right now. As of today, I am caught up on moments, events etc that I want to scrap. They are all scrapped. So now I'm wondering what I can scrap. We're not a big "go do something every weekend" type family, especially in the middle of winter here in MI. So usually we're just at home chilling and relaxing on the weekends.

Hmmm? I guess I didn't really want to ask a question...ROFL....just wanted to vent it out. ;)

I wonder what that would feel like? (mom of a 25, 27 yr olds w/no childhood pics scrapped).
But... if you are talking about MOC could you plan some snow play day? Or pizza dinner? And maybe it could be an opportunity to plan an event a month to have pictures. Are you planning to scrap the more ordinary pictures from now on? or maybe you could do the idea that was in another thread where they were reducing a 12x12 to 6x6 and printing 4 to a page.
Some here are really good about knowing sales on books. So maybe that might help.
As a mom of adults now, I really wish we had done more family things. My husband didn't want to participate so I didn't do it. But now I would. Even every 2 months or whatever.
For myself I'm going to try to do something once every week or two --- probably find a new park. But something that gives me memories.
Hope all that rambling helps.

Thank you - someone else said maybe scrap the rooms of our house, as they change over time. Like my kids rooms and things. Of course always nature. Or even how our town looks now...I think i might do that

I've only taken a few pictures this month, and they are mostly of those darn squirrels that I've been scrapping about. I hope they're done bothering me. My daughters send me pictures almost every day in text messages. They know that they will eventually be used in a layout, but not necessarily printed.

Can you borrow some pictures from a friend? I have several that allow me to use their photos and post them to the galleries.

I think that since I'm on a few Creative Teams, that I've learned not to delete all of my pictures from my laptop. You never know when a designer will be releasing a kit and I'll need those pictures.

I have ongoing projects.
Scanning in my non digital photos of oldest son.
Making life books for each child.
taking the scanned photos my mom sent me and making into books
I am jun 2016 in my regular YEAR books..
but I take 100s of photos a week, and love to scrap...I love it!

I just "borrowed" some photos from a friend on Fb, her son is such a cutie and she takes hundreds a week. ROFL

Yeah see, that's too much. ROFL. Life books of each kid, old photos of myself and siblings, etc...not gonna happen. Maybe when I retire or something. ;)
But I could scan in old photos of our oldest. :)

I would never be in this position, lol!

If I were you, I would just pull something that inspires me from the vast photos that you aren't planning on scrapping. You have a whole library, and scrapping can just be a fun creative outlet. Then when you NEED pages done, you can do those then. At least... it's a thought. :)

It sounds like "big event" pages are what interest you. If so, could you take pics with your DSLR of big events from your and/or your kids' childhoods (if they were born pre-digital cameras)? So that way you're focusing on what matters to you but you're not wasting your time with photos you don't want to scrap. Taking a pic of those photos can be fast and, depending on the camera (vs the scanner), can yield great results. @MrsPeel Cynthia, didn't you do a blog post or something about this? Anyway, that could get you scrapping what you want to scrap before having to wait for the next major event of the year for you. :)
Alternatively, you could maybe explore different reasons to scrap. For example: what about doing some pages that are about you (as others have mentioned). Include pics if you can, but maybe also do photo-less pages that focus on your thoughts/emotions or just your stats [where you've lived; why you have--or never have--moved; fave lists (food, movies, etc); or what you love about your house/city/kids/job/etc].

Start an All About Me book. Write memories from your childhood, high school days, college years, dating years, marriage, etc. That's my next project for the year. :)

I'm in that stage of taking tons of photos of my little ones just because they're so cute. My goal this year is to get 2014 completed. January is done. February is almost done... I think I only have one story left for that month. I'm moving month by month to tell the story/ies that I am missing from that year. (Scrapping all over the place has left holes, and I think I want to put them in a bound book) Simultaneously, I am working on my daughter's baby book, which is the majority of my 2011, 2012, and into 2013. (My son was born... so 2012-2013 for his book is the following goal). When I get bored with one, I switch to another for a bit.... but those two are my main goals to complete this year; preferably before October so I can do another WITL album this year.

When I really don't feel like I want to scrap something in my goal lists, I go with Art journaling, a hybrid project, or tell an "all about me" story. Also, a recipe book... go cook something and then scrap it. Lol! Maybe turn your attention to learning a technique regularly or something.

This goes along with the AAM suggestions but, what about some art journal-type pages? You could go on a "creative date" with yourself (as described in the book The Artists Way) and then scrap about it? Or do a Pinterest search for journal prompts and see where it takes you? You can always put that project down when you have current photos to work with and then pick it back up when you're caught up.

Do you have a camera phone? Take some random photos around your home, your neighborhood, what you are reading, fave foods, fave clothes, take some nature pics, anything and everything with a camera phone is so easy and stress-free. I have the dropbox app automatically load my photos and then I can just open up dropbox once I get on my computer and download as I need them for scrapping. I'd say 2/3 of my MOC pics have been camera phone pics I've taken recently.

Just hearing that you don't have a phone camera makes me all kinds of twitchy.
I wish I felt as caught up as you do.
Some great suggestions in this thread - travels maybe?
Or more all about you pages.
I also did an album of my aunts and uncles there were 9 in all and many had died before my kids were born, who better to tell their stories?

I love recording all the events, both big & small, but some of my favorite pages are not event pages.
I love to do "personality" pages, especially for my kids but also for me sometimes. There are lots of ways to do it - focus on one particular trait they have, maybe something they are really in to at the moment, or interview them about their current "favorites". Often times I'll just add a generic everyday photo of them to go with it.
Another thing I love to do is "now & then" pages. Take a photo of them now and pair it with a photo of them at a different time. Compare & contrast what's changed/what's remained the same through your photos & journaling.
A few years ago I put together a "places we go" album... the grocery store we always go to, the pediatrician, my work, our church, etc. I did a layout for each place with just a little bit of journaling.
One other idea... a few times I have made pages with photos of my kids when they are all the same age... like one of all of them the day they were born, one of each of them when they are 2 years old, etc. It's fun to see them all at the same age & stage and compare them.

What do you want to scrap?

Maybe browse the gallery for inspiration? Especially right now with different people on different challenges, there's a lot of things being scrapped! There's kids, families, Art journals, Christmas, friends, nature, pets, school, and that's just what I saw this afternoon!

I am the person who lugs my DSLR out and about a lot. Because I love it. So, it resides on my counter in the kitchen when downstairs, or in the office/schoolroom when upstairs. I also bought a purse specifically because my DSLR will fit in it, and it's not bulky.

ok, am slow, I just woke up from the worse day and night of my entire life (health wise and that means in general)
are you asking about MOC?
you are an amazing writer Kiana, what about photo-less pages? you have a LOT to put out, and I think you would be making awesome pages, or the changes of the rooms over the years, the changes of YOU over the years, there is so much....or even scrap stuff from hen you were young so your family and the ones to come learn about you?
if you have paper photos, you can take photo of the photos.... answer in: limitless, there is so much we can scrap and leave a legacy...... and you are awesome so you will do it :)

I have to hang my head in shame and admit I ended up never writing it and funnily enough have been feeling so guilty about it, I will try after I finish catching up with gallery, but can give you an idea (is dead easy) over on a pm Kiana, wont be until later tonight. but I can write :)
