Last year Miller was in afternoon kindergarten ... we still got to sleep in as late as we wanted.

This year school starts at 8:30, but I wish it didn't start until 9:00. School in my sister's city starts at 8:00am What time does yours start?

My girls (middle and high school) start at 7:40 and 7:45 respectively. I teach elementary in a neighboring (bigger) district and we start at 8:50. We don't get out until 4:10, though, which is late for most schools in the state.

My kids are in elementary school and their school starts at 9:00 and get out at 3:40. The middle and high schools start earlier.

My son is in middle school with a 7:40 start time. We usually aim to be in the drop-off line by 7:10 just so he's not late, though. The drop-off line is insane. If anything kills me, it'll be the drop-off line or the pick-up line at school.

My Little's are the only one (woot to the woo) that have to be dropped off, and we leave the house at 7:30, they get there by 7:35 and have breakfast there.
My three older ones are on their own, to the bus stop!
then my big college boy is an online? crazy but he works at 6:30am, so I don't know what he looks like!

I pick the little's up at 3:10.
The mid highers and my high schooler get home about 4:30pm
and
I wonder if my college kid still lives here, I see food disappearing, but I should check that lump on his bed?

I can't believe you have to be there a half hour before school starts. That drop off line sounds ca-razy! No buses?

My kids are in elementary school (1st and 3rd) and start at 8:40. So thankful it's not earlier! Also thankful we live pretty close to the school in a nice safe neighborhood so they walk in a group and leave the house at 8:20.

I loathe the pick-up line. Our drop off line is pretty quick, thankfully. School opens at 8:30, we leave our house at 8:30 and I'm through the line (and usually home) by 8:40. They've been in school for 4 days and I'm already debating letting them ride the bus home... just so I don't have to spend 30-45 minutes of my afternoon sitting in the car.

ours start at 8:15, out at 2:40. i thought that would be early getting out, but it's just about perfect.

My kids are in elementary and I think the bell rings at 8:40, but our bus comes around 8:15. If we walk we leave around 8:10. The HS bus comes through at 6:45ish and the MS bus at 7:30.

My daughter starts at 8:30 but has to arrive at 8:10.

For my kids the bell rings: HS 7:45. MS 8:00. Elem 8:15. PreK5 8:30. LOL

Release: PreK5 12noon. Elem 2:45. HS 3:00. MS 3:15.

We live about 20 mins from the school. Not a bad drive, but I still spend a LOT of time in the car.

Ours starts at 7:10. We have to leave the house by 6:45. THANK GOODNESS I have a husband who doesn't mind early mornings, so he gets up wtih the kids & takes them to school, while I put them to bed at night. It works so well for us.

Sing it, sister! With one in elementary and one in high school, I average about 2 hours a day in those lines. I try not to think about the 200 hours of my life I'm never getting back. Lol

High school is from 7:45 to 2:50
Elementary is from 8:35 to 3:40

do you guys who use the drop off line not have buses available? I know Tori doesn't right now.....I LOVE the bus! If we aren't using the bus we walk, but I have yet to drive my kids to school. Although, in fairness they are only in 2nd grade and kinder....i did have to drive them to preschool most of the time. DS and I walked to preschool all the time last year since it was just one block away.

In my district, if you live less than 1.5 miles to school, you don't qualify for the bus. I'm 1.45 miles (I had a crazy neighbor who had an official measurement done for our cul-de-sac) but once you're out of my neighborhood, it's about a mile down a very busy, high traffic street. It's just not very safe to walk, particularly because the traffic includes about 800 teen drivers from the high school who have no regard for pedestrians. So, car pool line it is!

Private school :(

Audible.com! That's my solution to the infinite pick up line issue. Not quite as easy to pull of when dropping off (without a bit of guilt, LOL).

My first grader starts at 7:40...we live less than 10 mins from school but still like to leave the house by 7:10 to get into drop off line, it's INSANE. But the other option is to put him on the bus and that picks him up at 6:20 O_o

Back in the day when I was in school the big kids started first...I miss that lol.

I teach elementary school. Our first bell rings at 7:30 a.m. I HATE it. It's 20 minutes earlier than last year.

We live in a new subdivision that's still under construction, so while we have a bus that comes to our neighborhood, it's nowhere near my house. Although, part of my issue is that I was spoiled by the bus stop being directly across the street from our old house. With my youngest being in Kindergarten, I have to walk him to and from the stop, even though his brother is in 5th grade. I'll probably start letting mine ride the bus home next week, but the bus comes at 8:00 and in my mind, if I have to drive them to the stop, I might as well give myself (and the boys) another half hour and just drive them to school. ;)
