Am I that behind the times that I don't know this one? or am I just old. (No need to answer that...lol) I mean the thing that looks like a bar code, sorta.

I was reading the hash tags and trying to figure out what they meant!
 
huh? i don't recall ever seeing those either. but learned something new from Jenn's post!

I haven't seen that before either ( maybe because I use the Later app 99% of the time to post so I learned something too!
 
I've seen them a lot on Instagram and may just have to ask someone who uses them. The example I showed had those two blocks before the hash tagged phrases. @bestcee The woman who wrote them was showing an example of a baby sweater and cap that did not go well the first knit. She does amazing work and lives in Glasgow scotland. Also a wonderful scrapper. Google Applechick.
 
I never saw that before either, but wanted to thank @jk703 for the link. I copied the lines to Evernote, they will come in handy on IG.
 
So a friend just texted me and those weird lines are showing up. She just got a new iPhone - the weird thing is, I don't see them on my iPhone in my messages (I have the latest iOS version on my iPhone) ... but I am seeing them when I look at my messages on my iMac. They are showing up after every "I". My iMac does not have the latest software updated.

I wonder if it is a bug? BC I recently saw a headline about an iOS bug with the trying to type a lower case "i" on the iPhones - but I didn't read the full story. But this is the first time I noticed those weird stacked lines.
 
This is what I am seeing in messages on my iMac ... I immediately thought of this thread.

It shows up as A ?box in the predictive text box as someone is typing.... what you see as the receiver is the weird symbol. So it's something the person typing has to fix on their phone. My husband was about to lose his mind over it last night... but did the fix and at least now, he's not sending people that symbol.
 
I'm not sure, weird, lol! Another one!
 
Ahhh ... Ok. I get it now. Well since it's not showing up on my iPhone when she types me the text message - I think it must be my iMac. I need to update. It's on the list. Maybe this weekend?

Okay... I just looked at my convos with my husband. The symbol only showed up in iMessage on my Mac before he did the fix. It always looked right on my phone. So maybe iPhone to iPhone it's fine? But iPhone to anything else had the symbol? I see it in Facebook statuses and it was in the emails he sent me before he fixed it.
 
I saw that post Jenn and was coming to ask about that. I didn't read it all the way because I'm on Android.
 
I finally saw the symbol on my own iPhone while I was typing a comment on someone's IG post. I quickly did the "text replacement" fix ... ick. It looked ridiculous, LOL. There was no way I was going to be typing that over and over again.
