I'm fascinated with the MOCs-
I couldn't participate first time, then last year I was twice in hospital,
so this is my first MOC....

I have discovered a few (quiet a few) super amazing things...but the one that surprised me the most:
Quick Page-

I never looked at QPs...to me, there is no point on having the page ready, because what IO love is the actual filling the page...thing is, I had so SO much fun today embellishing it.... I may look at QPs differently from now on!!!!

good thing was it was a PNG doc, because most of the ones I had come across are psd's and my program flattens them.
even the png (not sure if you can move the elements around in PS/CC? as in the stuff that comes with the QP)

but anyway, that was my latest discovery...

Have you found out anything that surprised you or find a way to do it differently..?
(in any of the challenges)
would love to hear...

:heartlub
:)

I loved Karen's puppet warp challenge! Such a great technique I had no idea existed!

But the best thing I've discovered is that I still love to scrap. I've slacked on my scrapping lately due to other commitments. And this is the FIRST MOC I've scrapped any page except my own challenge - I'm always focused on organizing and running it. And I am having the best time participating in the challenges, and hanging in the forums. It's great to be an MOC scrapper, instead of just a host! You guys are making this so FUN!

I discovered that I love starting up my computer in the morning and looking to see what the new daily challenge is and getting a page done before 9:00 am. It's been so productive!

It's been great. I also loved learning how to use the Puppet warp tool, everyday I'm excited to see the new challenge post and get my brain working on what I'm going to scrap for it. I'm learning to work a little faster, go with my gut and not stress over the "perfect" paper or "perfet" elements. I needed that. It's hard to scrapbook every single day, but I'm loving it!

I've discovered that I really like weighting my pages to the right (or lower right) side when I'm not using a template! I'm going to try and break out more from that... at least for the rest of the month :giggle

I discovered that I have so much to learn and experiment with! The puppet wrap was great to learn ... And good to push my boundaries and try photo less :)

I have discovered that if I put my mind to it I am going complete all challenges, (that is my stubborn streak at work), along with all my other CT committments and that I can do clean and simple layouts. (something I have really struggled with).

I didn't know about the "mask hides effects" checkbox, and that is a handy thing! Much easier to click a box than to separate the shadow and modify it by hand. :)

No, PNGs are never, ever layered. Not in any program. Which is why I hate QPs. But that's not a discovery :giggle I knew that. When I want something below the frame, I just want to drag it below the frame, not spend all my time masking and blending to make it LOOK like I drug it below the frame. Sahlin Studio is the only designer I've ever seen sell layered QPs, which is the only kind I'd consider when it's not a MOC challenge!

I've discovered that I can scrap fast. I don't have to move everything around till I have it just right (sometimes it's just some millimeters here and there).
I've discovered that all pages don't have to be perfect... even if it bothers me.
I've discovered that I love paint. I can't finish a page without some paint somewhere on the page.

What I will miss most of MOC when it's over is the new challenge every day. I have a hard time coming up with page ideas myself and I need someone to tell me what to scrap.

Puppet warp! Got my mojo going to finally tackle my subscription to CC and take my skills with PSE to the next level. :happydance

I also learned I love those few quiet moments with coffee in the am, reading the threads and checking the gallery for all the amazing wonderful pages other time zones have brought us, while I await the day's challenge.

I learned that not only are we a creative and caring bunch, but wild and crazy too..:heartslub

I loved the Puppet Warp Challenge b/c I LOVE learning new techniques. I totally forgot about this and when trying it, didn't realize how EASY it was to use. This was my favorite challenge so far! :yup

I loved learning about the puppet warp and being able to hide the shadows!!! So cool...it will save me so much time in trying to rearrange everything so it isn't covered.

LOVE this! I stopped even proofreading my pages before printing ( I do try to proof before saving), but my "precious" perfectionist daughter finds all kinds of typos and errors on my printed pages. And do you know what? I don't even care! The story is still there... they are still getting looked at... and even if I don't love the page, I love the memory and that it is documented!

Awesome perspective.

To answer Cynthia's original question. I RE-discovered how utterly amazing this place is. The talent and originality of the scrappers is simply outstanding. The designers have outdone themselves (again). I am so grateful for this community.

I really loved learning the puppet warp technique and Anne's extraction technique. I definitely want to use both of those going forward.

ohhh but there are the normal challenges, also the weekly ones like polly picks or trend watch, plus most of the designers have blog challenges which you can read about in the Announcement side of the forum.... I know what you mean though.. is amazing when we are all in sync doing one thing... (my English probably is not saying what my brain is thinking, but am sure you understand LOL)

But Trend Watch is dead, Cyn! I'm still waiting to find out what Anne is replacing it with. pins and needles, I tell ya!

LOL I think that's why I love this place so much!!!!!! is a pleasure to discover new people (like yourself) with whom I have so much in common, others from whom I'm learning so much.... and even discovering people who have been around all along but I never got the opportunity to get to know better.....
