What have you discovered during MOC??

meeting all the new people at the pad and seeing all the wonderful pages in the gallery. I am with Molly.. I still like freestyle instead of templates, but a template every now and again is ok. I truly think Art Journaling took over for me since last year,.. I first tried it in the MOC and then the Art Journaling monthly forum/challenge got me addicted to it now... now I just like blending everything and that is fun.. I have discovered some stuff from other designers to add to my stash and thank you TLP for the MOC chats that gave us coupons for goodies to help out.. that was very awesome in addition to the daily challenges. I like the challenges with new techniques- the shadowing the brush work the waterpaint... all awesome and really allows growth.

I love seeing the gallery with everyone's pages and I love seeing not only my growth personally but growth on all the scrappers.. really wonderful to see the style changes with the challenges. Thank you again.... Looking forward to tomorrow for the finale... although I will be sad as I have really enjoyed it so very much :)

I've learned that when I have a lot on my plate that I actually get more done! I also learned that I really love having the MOC as an excuse at the end of every day that I "have" to scrap tonight! :) My hubby will probably be happy when MOC is over so I'll start watching TV with him again. :giggle

I've been saving the MOC challenges in a text file so I could come back to them in the future because they made me try the things that I wouldn't decide to try myself, like art journaling. The page that I did for Scrap Therapy is one of my current favorites. The journaling won't give me the "Most Patient Daughter" award, but I'm glad that I could express my emotions on a page.

That i totally have a scrapping style... and I hate multi photo pages... and titles lol

lol i can relate to at least half of this! one photo on one page, please. i have also discovered that creativity often comes in limited quantities and can be draining and tiring (as i still sit at 1:30a tinkering around).

I've learned that I can't scrap a page a day while the kids are home on school holidays :giggle

I've discovered how strongly I feel about scrapping, and the reason I am doing it, no, it is not my creative outlet at all, I can only scrap seeing my audience (grandchildren preferably) that will be interested in knowing what their mothers were like when they were small... with occasional retro wander/climb into the family tree for some history, maybe with a touch of nut... But I have to have a photo, or else...

I totally LOVED the two techniques: shadow and watercolor. I use the shadow tip all the time now.

I learned that I can scap a lot in a day, and that procrastination is BAD. really BAD.

Back to scrap now!

EDIT: I forgot the brush technique..oh this one was so new for me and really make a difference in a page :)

That this month I can scrap lots of pages with the few kits I have from this store. I learnt I am a versatile scraper. Finally I learnt I always need journalling on every page.

Tamara

(Oh and I can finish even though I was on holiday for two weeks this Month)

That I *really* want a picture on my page.
yep, me too, and more than one ideally.... but then i struggle to balance large photos [so i don't have to squint to see details] with how many additional photos i can put on the page, without them being to tiny to be pointless - it has also confirmed what i've known for years: that tiny photos and the minimalist look on my pages physically hurts me

I discovered three things - 1) that I like week-in-review pages , 2) that I *can* do a page a day if I scrap simply and focus on recording the memories and 3) that I like my pages when I scrap simply and focus on recording memories.

So, aside from all the pages I got scrapped, this was very productive. TYSM to everyone who worked on putting this together!

I've learned so much!

I love all the techniques that I learned especially the brushes/paint/stamps over photo or papers. I used to avoid that because I thought it look unrealistic. Now I've used it several times. And I love the overlays, I really played with them.

I can scrap much faster then I thought, nevertheless I like it to set my page aside and look at it again the next day with a fresh mind.

Halfway the MOC I found out how I could use the smart object so that it's so much easier to keep track of what I used in my LO's. Sometimes I just could not remember from which kit that one little flower or stitch came from.

Thanks for all the challenges!

This is so cool! I have so thoroughly enjoyed seeing pages by new scrappers (both new here and new to scrapping in general). I knew there was no way I'd complete them all during the month but am looking forward to pushing thru the list throughout the next few months.

So much of discovery through out the 31 days!!

- I am kinda A REBEL, asking me to do something within a timeline KILLS ME!! ASK ME TO FOLLOW A CERTAIN RULES THAT DRIVES ME NUTS!! ASK ME TO READ THROUGH A TUTORIAL THATS LIKE A WASTE OF TIME FOR ME.... BUT I managed to get it done... So I guess I can if I WANT TO!!
- I discovered that my BEST PAGES came from MOC ... even though with all the stress and anxiety.. LOL!!
- I am kinda GOOD at getting others to PARTICIPATE AND PLAY ALONG WITH ME!!
- I am highly DRAMATIC THEREFORE EVERYONE WANTS TO KNOW WHAT I AM DRAMATIC ABOUT !! Then they decide to also play along with me through out MOC... :giggle ... So I am kinda influential but not everyone likes my drama and me being loud... LOL!!
- If I don't understand a WRITTEN TUTORIAL, I can always get help from someone to get a VIDEO DONE for me.. SOME OF THE POLLYWOGS ARE REALLY HELPFUL AND SUPPORTIVE...
- Participating in challenges like this ... can be fun at the same time, I make lots of new friends... some I have known for some time but the challenge gave me the opportunity to get to know them better..
- Learning from others....
- Supporting others -> or be their CHEERLEADER!! lol!!
- LASTLY CHALLENGES ARE NOT THAT BAD AFTER ALL!!

I have been doing this scrapping thing for a long while now, but in recent years, I have focused more on getting the P365 or PL pages done (which I am not sad about), but using the challenges to push me to get additional pages/stories recorded made me realize how much I still really love making regular layouts. And when I am consistently making layouts, I somehow got faster at finishing them--it is the whole practicing thing, I guess. Even though I didn't get to finish all the challenges, I still completed close to 35 layouts for the month and am almost finished with documenting 2013 which is AWESOME in my book!!

I learned that I can scrap so much faster when I'm more concerned with actually getting things on a page that are meaningful instead of everything being "perfect." Letting go of my perfectionist tendencies really unclogs the process and actually lets me make some pretty darn nice pages I think. Getting all hung up making it perfect really stifles the creativity sometimes. Thank you MOC!
