What did you get for Christmas ?

I got un ugly Christmas sweater, a gift card for skincare products, some Xmas deco items and some cash. Not bad!
We don't do big gifts the grown ups in our family, and even for the kids I prefer giving cash over a gift I'm not sure they'll like.

I bought myself a kiln and a pottery wheel this year. :giggle
My uncle died last year and left me a little money, so it was really *his* gift to me. I've wanted a kiln for about 25 years, but I finally started taking pottery lessons last year. This summer, we started transforming what was my old craft room (that had fallen apart) into what my husband calls the 'pottery barn,' and I'm so excited. Now I feel really spoiled because I have a pottery studio and an art studio. :blush
I have questions about a personal kiln (having worked for a stoneware factory)...how big is it? Is it propane heated or what? How hot does it get? What was the first thing you fired in it?

Merry Christmas EVERYONE!

My family are helping me on my journey to being a better hybrid scrapper :happydanceand they got me a cute HP Sprocket 2000, The Art of Memory Collecting by Martina Calvi and an edition of Daphne's Diary :happy
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and have plenty of great photos to scrap for MOC!
What thoughtful gifts! Had to Google all of them, but now I am in the know!

I got an air fryer (which is really a gift for everyone), tickets to a hockey game (go Flyers) with a Flyers beanie, and a Willy Wonka LEGO set

I hope you love your air fryer!!! My husband got my first one 3 years ago and upgraded it last year to a bit bigger. It's made a huge difference in keeping meat juicy while cooking.

The coolest thing I got, by far, was a mini polaroid camera that prints mini pictures. It's a neat gift and I'll use it... BUT... the thing that made it special is that it was from our 23 year old son. This was the first year out of college that he's had a job and his own money. I gave him a few $10 ideas for giving gifts to his sister and didn't expect anything for me and my husband. And then he got multiple gifts for all of us. Very thoughtful gifts. Not super-expensive, but with his own money. That was everything.

I think that needs a scrapbook layout.

It is a decent size. My daughter and I are both taking pottery classes, so we got one that was probably bigger than most home studios, but I didn't want to buy a smaller one and have regrets for the price. It isn't overly big though. The pottery studio we take classes from has 4 kilns (three large and one smaller... our kiln is the same size as the smaller one there). Ours is 23" x 23" x 18" (deep). It will fire to cone 10, which is 2350 degrees (yikes). It is electric. We fireproofed everything, put tile beneath it, and we put in some good venting. So far, we've only fired it to cone 6 and it gets to be over 100 in the studio. You don't want to stay in for long :giggle. But we put in a dutch door on one side of the studio so we can open the top and then have a window open as well if we want to be out there during the firing.

The first thing we fired was a bunch of stuff the week before my daughter had her first market. LOL. We had used all of our class credits and she needed to fire a bunch of mugs and bowls to sell. I'm looking forward to trying sculpture and some weird shaped pieces that aren't always a good fit for the community pottery studio.

I received the Silhouette Portrait 4 cutting machine with the electrostatic mat. It's quite a change for me because I was always using the Silhouette Portrait 1.

I'm still using the portrait 1 too! I can't wait to hear how you like the new one! I hadn't heard they changed to an electrostatic mat. I'm intrigued!

I have pictures of what I got in my junk journal. Mostly goodies for crafting. :D Some new to me brand stitching threads (Sulky), an art journal for a new class I'm going to start soon, a water mister, 2 empty watercolor palettes with empty pans, some stencils, orgami paper, a new craft knife, one alcohol ink, a mini set of metallic watercolors, and a japanese screw punch (can punch a hole anywhere on a sheet of paper/cardboard unlike the punches that only have a certain reach in from the edge).

I bought myself a cricut (love to make my own stickers etc.) and I've got from my husband and daughters some beauty products, the newest book from Charley MacKensey and some lego.
