My son has been taking welding courses and will be (hopefully) starting an internship very soon. We want to get him supplies and clothing that he will need for this for Christmas. He’s still to give us a list, but if anyone out there has any knowledge on the subject I’ll live to hear your advice!

I wish I could help you but I have no idea. Instead I'm replying to say CONGRATS to him and what a great idea for presents for him!

All I know is the welding mask but I am sure he already has one.. maybe one of those aprons too to protect his clothing while welding? I definitely would wait for his list though as you don't want to get duplicates. Congrats, Jan, to your son!!

Also I just googled this so maybe you could get some ideas from here:

I have a son who is a welder. The mask is important. Also good gloves. We got him a pair of coveralls one year and he loved them.
There are some really expensive accessories, nice to have but not necessary.
My son is amazing, he would bring home chunks of metal home to show me and I thought the welds were gorgeous. I am so grateful our high school had this class.

My first thought was welding in Silhouette! :)
Congrats to your son ... sounds exciting and a wonderful opportunity!

One of those large welding shields are nice also....kind of protects anyone passing by from sparks...not sure if people will be around them. Gloves. Joining tool. Welding apron.
(My hubby is a welder by trade even though he hasn't had to actually weld in a couple of years due to a promotion of sorts...I'll see if he has any ideas for anyone just starting out)

That's so awesome!

No advice, no welding here. But I love how many in our community do have help!

That's so cool, Carrie! I went to an "Art Welding Show" once. It was so cool; this welder created art and put on a show, where he produced a beautiful art piece and he had his whole show set to music. I don't know anything about welding, personally, but I've always been fascinated with it.
