WELCOME BACK ART JOURNALERS!

How is that different from a shadow box?

It is still a shadow box, but I want this time to contain stuff that is meaningful to you in any way. Make it meaningful now. May be you have been dealing with something amazing, maybe you have been dealing with tons of snow. Make it personal.

Here are some of my ideas that you might find in all kinds of kits:
Buttons
Flair
Jewelry and pocket watches -- seems like several of Forever Joy have jewelry parts
Paper cutouts like Paula's,
Valentines, hearts
Postage stamps

Game pieces

Some trinket like things in here

These are really trinkets although you could imagine them as, as a little item. But wouldn't a shadow box of these be cute?

Have to go do dishes. Look at the kits you have and just see if there are any little things in there you might not have thought of.

It doesn't have to be something you WOULD necessarily find in a shadow box. I want to see your shadow and learn something about you, either what it's going on in your life right now or that happened in your life.

my real life inspriation

gotta go in karen's room and see if i still have Mom's wall hanging she had above the phone when i lived at home, and if it still has my vintage sewing things in it.
I tried to make paula's more maple wood, so i used this instead, so so bad on sizing.

Week 2 - box series 1

nope, got mom's minute maid frozen orange juice pencil holders on it, a whicker barbie doll chair and and some of dads wood things he maid. old sewing is in square macy box, wrapped in tissue paper, behind karens door, on one of the shelfs

OMG, love them both, the inspiration and your take!

Ah I forgot that part -- so more of a storytelling trinkets. I like it.

For week 2: The photos are of my parents. I'm a big fan of jewelry. After my Mother passed away, I acquired several beautiful pieces of vintage rhinestone creations. I also have my mother's cameo, given to her by my father on their wedding day, a piece I really cherish. While I don't have love letters from them, I did find some post cards that my dad wrote to her while he was in the service. They were married a year later. Before discovering art journaling, I was a big vintage digital scrapbooker, so this represents me and my love of things vintage.

When I think of a trinket box, I think of a box that holds miscellaneous precious items, sitting maybe on my dresser? Anyway, that is what I thought of, not something that hangs on the wall. So here is my interpretation. :-)

Are all the challenges this month going to be about shadow boxes?
I always put meaningful things on my AJ pages, which is what makes them AJ to me, so I'm still not sure how this is different from last time but I'll try to think of something.

My shadow box for Week 2.

I am so on the roll re this shadow box. But it's almost midnight at my end so it's bedtime for me. Nitey Nite!

I "DIY" the shadow box. So pls pardon my poor workmanship. :P

I am on a handlettering journey since Oct 2015. So my trinkets are all about that.

There is Search by Themes -- Heritage -- there were kits with one or two things. I like the last 2 boxes shown here. They just went with drawings, not necessarily realistic. That would work. A shelf of snowmen would have to be kept in the freezer though. Okay I'm weird.

BWAAAAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Throwin' a snowball at ya!!!!!!

I think it is in post one but yes this month is shadow boxes. It was going to be one challenge but some people finished so fast Dalis made it 4. There are so many kinds of shadow boxes we exploring how to do them. So this one is using smaller object and less pictures to tell something about you. I'm struggling to come up with something too.
Not the best information but maybe it will help it make more sense.

You may see a shadow box full of packing boxes! :)

Oops a secret trinket box! Nice. I'll see if it works for you...my trinket box is still in the pre-pre-planning stages. I haven't a clue in other words.

I'm not 100% happy with the shadows, but I have no more time to fool around with them, as Week 2 is halfway over & I'm just posting my page for Week 1!
