What do you have planned this weekend? Anything exciting...or just keeping it low-key?

It's been super cold here this week, so I think we are going to stay in tonight and watch a movie. Tomorrow, we are testing driving a new car for me! The kids have a four day weekend due to MLK and teacher in-service, so I need to come up with some crafting ideas to keep them busy.

Test driving a new car sounds fun!! and maybe a bit stressful....

We are having some friends over tonight and playing games (any Settlers of Catan players here?). Then tomorrow, I plan on doing nothing, but hanging out at home, doing some scrapping and enjoying life :)

work, work, and more work. I told my manager yesterday that I wasn't sure if she realized she has been scheduling me every weekend since November. I really need one weekend day off to spend with my dh, doing chores together, test driving cars (for my dh), painting and remodeling two boys bedrooms, etc.... She really didn't realize she'd been doing it (or so she says...lol)

So hopefully we'll be able to get these things done soon.

Have fun test driving cars Laura. Do you know what you want? I had a lot of fun when I was looking for mine. I decided on an Infinity G35. It's been over a year, and I still say how much I love my car each time I get into it. (everyday!!)

Becky...We used to love playing Settlers! We haven't played in years...sounds like a fun family night for me. Maybe we'll do that tonight! We need to brush up on our skills before we invite some friends over! ;)

Oooh fun fun!

Surprisingly our weekend is a bit fuller than usual. Usually we are pretty vanilla and low key. Actually it still is probably, lol..it's just more full than normal for us. We have a going-away party to attend tomorrow and a birthday party for one of Bugga's school friends at Chuck E Cheese on Sunday. Also will be watching the football. My Bears are playing on Sunday. Woot! Other than that..some work and hopefully some scrapping too too!

It's super cold here too. :( So not fun. Tomorrow we are going to my brothers 19th bday party. I can't believe he's so big now LOL

soooooo cold here too!

We are having our final Christmas celebration on Saturday. It was the only time we could get with my great aunt and uncle so yeah, we're going to that and it's my grandpa's 76th birthday too :)

Becky, you hit it exactly - fun & stressful. The whole family has been going to see how well we all fit. My 12 year old wants something cooler than my current minivan (admittedly, so do I!) and my 4 year old wants something with a DVD player (which I do NOT want because I LOVE talking to my kids when they are car captives- ha). So far, I have tested the Audi Q7, Range Rover Sport, Mazda something or other, Chevy Traverse, Ford Flex and BMW X5... as well as the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna. I haven't loved any of them. I don't really want a big SUV because of the fuel economy and, frankly, because my old dog probably can't jump into one. He's too heavy for me to lift but he pretty much rides everywhere with me, so it has to be something he can climb into. However, I still need more space than I can get from a sedan. Soooooo, tomorrow we are going to drive the Buick Enclave. *sigh* If I don't like it, I will probably just keep what I have. LOL Aren't you glad you asked, Debra?! LOL

Becky, I haven't heard of Settlers of Catan...what is it?
Debra, I hope you get a weekend off SOON, girl! You need it!!
Sara, Chuck E Cheese is like the most exciting weekend possible for the 4-5 year old set. I do make my kids take the AirBorne pixies before we go because even though it is super fun, it's so icky germy.

I'm going to a crop tomorrow and I'm so excited because I haven't seen my friends in awhile and I haven't scrapped in over a month now! (What????) Sunday's going to be a super busy day. I need to do some shopping. Then the Jets are playing, my friend's band is having a show and another friend is having a birthday party. Luckily those last two things are in the same place. Should be a fun weekend. Hope you all have a great one too! :)

oh, Laura, the car shopping is sounding anything but fun! :) Hope you can all come to an agreement though.

Settlers of Catan is a really fun game. It isn't really a board game, b/c the board is made up of lots of pieces that can be arranged to make the game different every time. It is a bit of strategy, a bit of luck (with dice), and tons of fun. You build settlements and cities based on resources that you have. There are tons of expansions and we love playing it. But, it seems like there aren't nearly as many game people as us and so when we find people who actually know how to play, we are always super excited. These are new friends from church that we haven't played with before, so it could be interesting.

Debra, do you guys have any of the expansions? I am a Cities and Knights girl myself!

This is the first weekend in months that we have nothing planned. I am so excited for some downtime! lol

Not a whole lot. Hubby just left with two of the girls and one dog to the pet store while I clean house because we have a showing tomorrow afternoon. I have a few haircuts to do in the afternoon and hubby wants to go to breakfast and dinner out tomorrow - yeah for me!

We don't Becky, but our friends (our old neighbors who we used to play with) do...and also so we can play with more people. I was hoping to play tonight but one of my boys is leaving to play D&D with friends. I'll have to check out the Cities and Knights one! My friends own a game store! I'll need to take a trip out there!

Well, it looks like we'll be looking for another vehicle sooner than we thought, and it won't be for my dh. My 19 year old has been driving my old minivan, and being that we live in California, it has to be smogged before we can register it. I've already paid the registration fee, plus a $50 extension on it because we can't get the darn thing to pass. We've already spent about $500 trying to fix problems, plus my son has paid $100 for the failed smogging. They want to keep it another week so they can find out why it's not passing. They just did a $600 job for me on it, but said that it would still fail, so they aren't going to charge me for it. (I was floored when he told me that). I'm thinking that for what we are putting into it, it would be better to scrap it and get a "new" used car for him. I think that I'm going to take him out on Monday and do some serious test driving.

Laura...have you looked into some of the smaller crossover vehicles like the Nissan Murano or the Hyundai Tucson? They are so nice and comfy and roomy enough as the kids get a little bigger. I think that is what my dh might be looking to get. Maybe the Hyundai Santa Fe. We still take 3 of the boys with us sometimes if we all go out to dinner. Right now we end up taking two vehicles because all three can't fit into my car. One of my boys is 6'3" and 280 pounds. He pretty much takes up two spots all on his own! I really don't want a family vehicle though, but at least one we can take a few of them comfortably if we need to.

Good luck with the car shopping! I just hate dealing with the sales people. I'm in sales and I can get extremely annoyed very easily. I can get really rude with them too if they push my buttons. Hopefully I'll set a good example for my son on Monday! lol

debra, i would love to hide in your pocket and watch you deal with a sales person :giggle that would be some fantastic entertainment right there!

my weekend took a bit of a turn last night. my doorbell rang at 10:30, and it was my husband! (why he rang the doorbell i have no idea... he's a dork like that). so he surprised us and came home for the weekend. nice!

What a great surprise, Rebecca! Enjoy your weekend together!! :)

Debra, thanks for the suggestions. I've added them to the test drive list. We drove the Buick Enclave today and I actually really liked it.

woohoo Rebecca!!! I love surprises like that! Have fun!

The Buick looks so nice Laura. I haven't seen one on the road yet.
