Wearing Green?

I wasn't wearing green until I changed, thanks for the heads-up on the day. :)

Oh my! I can see why you wouldn't like this day! I hope your husband was able to come home and whatever he was there for is resolved!
He got to come home! :D

Sadly, they haven't fully resolved the issue (because insurance won't pay for the test that GI ordered when he was hospitalized in December) but they have him stable and heavily medicated.

The whole St Patrick's thing is a hoot. You always go so big on the holidays in the US. :agree Generally other than a few Irish pubs doing some special happy hour events and putting up posters it's not much of a thing here, or most other countries I've lived in. Having said that, my youngest was on a youth advisory panel for the Irish Embassy here and that year they did arrange a St Pat's Day festival by the waterfront which they had to go along to so she had green ribbons in her hair. That was fun.

DH is nearly 100% genetically Irish with the most Irish name to match (and our eldest has one of those Irish names people struggle to pronounce) but I bet he couldn't tell you when St Pat's day is, so he definitely isn't dressing up! I need to take them to Ireland to connect with their roots. Youngest has talked about going to Dublin for work but we'll see.

Erin go Bragh! We dressed in green and settled in for a cozy celebration. My son-in-law prepared the corned beef in his Suvie cooker, while my grandson Connor took charge of the new potatoes. I made the fried cabbage and a Banoffee pie to round out the meal. I bought the Irish soda bread, but forgot to bring it! The adults enjoyed a bit of Baileys, and though there were only four of us, it was full of fun. Even my shamrock plant made it through a whole year—quite an achievement for me!

Oh geez! I hate hearing stories about insurance not paying for stuff that doctors have deemed necessary. Glad to hear he got to come home and is stable at lease. Hugs!

St Paddy's is my favorite Holiday. lol! Most everyone is happy and smiling. My type of holiday! I also love the parades, and all the wee woos. We have a parade this Saturday, and it's my fav - they have a bagpipe "sing off" lol!

We get up early on the day and went to an Irish pub. They have the radio there, bagpipes, and you can get breakfast or Irish meals. It was about 8 of us... then proceeded to move closer to home to each next Irish pub/bar. It was a fun day of laughter, bagpipes, and family/friends. This year, my son joined me, lol, but my husband couldn't. So, next year, hopefully he will be back.

I wore green and cooked corned beef and cabbage! Most of my adult life I didn't know I had any Irish ancestry, but two DNA tests say that I do (10%), and I actually tracked my ancestors a few generations back to Ireland :happy << first green emoji I could find that kind of fits, lol.

Growing up (as an Irish Catholic in Ottawa, Canada), we used to wear green on St. Patrick's Day, and we also faithfully attended Mass on March 17. It wasn't yet about green beer or cute leprechauns, it was still mostly about honouring the patron saint of Ireland.

nah, forgot it was even a thing - we definitely didn't do the wear green thing growing up unless it was a special sports day and your 'house' was green b/cos uniforms and we don't eat Lucky Charms or whatever that cereal is (it isn't sold here ASFAIK) - we do eat cabbage fairly frequently but more as coleslaw or stirfry filler and corned beef is more a winter sunday roast thing so not a March thing - hope one of y'all found a pot of gold or whatever
