We got a dog!!!

well I read that little article about the differences in Huskies and malamutes and *I* think she's a malamute...more in personality and her demeanor than in looks...cause she does look a lot like a husky (her eyes are totally brown..no blue...which could be either. LOL) When we got there every single dog in the kennel barked like crazy. The poor things were so happy to see kids and people talking to them but our Mya just sat there and watched us very intently. They say malamutes pretty much never ever bark but huskies are very vocal so in the respect I would say she's a malamute. Plus when we had her out to play she did try to climb up on Garret and I a couple of times but only to get us to pet her but she started to dig more than once. They huskies are jumpers and malamutes are diggers.

seriously though I have no idea and I have no dog expertise AT ALL. I have never ever had a dog of my own and I didn't grow up with one. LOL Totally just basing these assumptions off of the one little article Debra just linked :D

Yay! I love pound puppies! She's a beauty, and I hope your family has lots and lots of fun with her, no matter what kind of dog she is. :)

I couldn't resist posting... I grew up with a malamute. They are stunning dogs... they don't bark but rather have a howl sort of. Wikipedia said this about it... "The majority of Malamutes are fairly quiet dogs, seldom barking like most other dog breeds. When a malamute does vocalize, more often than not they tend to "talk" by vocalizing a "woo woo" sound. They may howl like wolves or coyotes, and for the same reasons."

I can't remember the exact sound b/c I was young but I know how unique it was.

Here's an old pic of us. I was 10 when she died, she was about 11... I was three here... Really really great dog breed.
