And not just to another house, or another city, or another state. Nope we are moving to Europe! Brussels, Belgium to be exact. I am definitely excited but scared too. :happydance2 That is really far away, and really different from the US. But it is something I have always dreamed of doing and DH just happened to be offered a great new position at the company HQ. DH will probably head over early March and DS and I will head over in late April since it is crunch time at my job.

Since we have lots of international peeps here, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
 
My aunt and uncle live there... they love it. My mom and some other family members went over for a wedding and were told they needed to wear a hat... I guess they're a bit more formal than we are state side. I guess the shopping is amazing but rather expensive. When they come state side they stock up on linens and business wear. My uncle works for NATO and my aunt is an equivilant to a district supervisor in a school system over there... you will love it! it's beautiful!!!!!

lisa - is your husband connected to the govt/military that you will have priveleges to any of the bases over there?

it's been ages since i moved over seas but it was always with the military. stream line your belongings - find 220 things - like hair dryer, flat iron, iron, etc. if you have a product you use it's not common - stock up on it because shipping is expensive.

brussels is composed of several peoples and languages but rocks that it's on the main land near germany, france and holland! woot!
 
What a great opportunity! Good luck in the next few months ironing out all the details - what a great experience for your son!

nope, not a government job. And I agree, we definitely need to stock up on some essentials. Thankfully they are paying to ship all our stuff over there. I can't wait to start traveling all over Europe! That is the best part in my opinion!!

That's what I was going to say, you'll be in a great position to explore the continent from Brussels! You can hop on the Eurostar to London for a day trip :)

How fun Lisa! What a great experience it will be! I lived in Europe for six years in my youth, but I always wish I could go back now because I would actually appreciate it, you know? How wonderfully exciting!
