Today is a day of waiting for me. Our car picked up a screw on the tire, so I'm waiting at a tire shop for a ride.
My husband is waiting in the hospital waiting room. My mother in law got her hip surgery today! Yay!

We both brought our Kindles so we could read. But it made me think: how do you wile away waiting time? That forced waiting time where you just have a chair and a few people walking around.

Same as Danica. My phone. But it's not boring. I can read articles, check in with friends and pages I follow on Facebook, play my favorite games, read a book, write in my journal, take pictures of my surroundings, look things up . . . etc etc etc!

If I know I'm going to be waiting I'll take either my Kindle or a real book I've been reading for a couple of years. The only time I read it is in this type of situation. It's a biography so it's not like I'd forget the story line.

I will say though I have not had many instances of having to wait long periods of time in the last year or so. Heck the last oil change I had I ended up talking to a salesman about possibly getting a new car. And the 2 visits to urgent care this fall, I was taken back to the room within 5 minutes and maybe a 5 minute wait for the doctor after the nurse did her evaluation.

If I know I'm going to have to wait, I take my Kindle. I also have the Kindle App on my phone, so I can read on it. I check FB, IG, etc. on my phone, too.

What biography?

That's true! I usually don't have to wait often, but it was last minute for the car today, so no appointments. Just waiting.

I love my Kindle Paperwhite! I hate reading on my phone. There's something about the screen I don't like.

Like a lot of others, I usually kill time on my phone, scrolling Instagram and TikTok. I also love people watching :)

I dislike waiting! I am impatient for waiting! Lol. I will doom scroll Instagram and play candy crush.

Definitely scroll through Facebook, Instagram, play Solitaire or Candy Crush.

I usually take a book or I read on the Kindle app on my phone. If it's going to be extended waiting, I'll take my cross stitch. I will check apps like Facebook or Instagram only occasionally on my phone. I much prefer to check those while on my computer. I don't know why I'm able to read on my phone, but not check apps, but there you have it. LOL

What biography?

"From Elvis to Elvira, My Life on Stage". About Richard Sterban of the Oak Ridge Boys. It is actually my cousin's book and is autographed so I don't get to keep it. She found it in a used book sale. Book is from 2012.

On my phone or scrapping on my laptop. My daughter has a weekly hour-long commitment where I drive her then need to sit in the car until she's done. Our dentist/orthodontist isn't letting parents of older kids inside, so I also sit in the car waiting for all of those appointments. I usual bring my laptop. When the weather was nicer I used to walk around outside listening to an audiobook, but I've been lazy (and cold!) lately.

I will mostly either play on my phone (Spider solitaire, Picture Cross, and Matchington Mansion are my current top 3) or just zone out and let my mind wander. If it's something where I know I will be there for a long time (pretty rare these days), I will bring along a kakuro book. If it's somewhere I feel safe, I will also sometimes take a nap. :giggle

I usually have a book in my purse (I don't much care for reading on devices). I also like to walk around if there's a place for it.
