Vinyl Help!

Hi crafty friends! I'm in charge of decorating sports bottles for my daughter's club volleyball team. I thought of getting out the paint pens, but I think they want it to look at bit more professional looking than that and I don't want it to wash off
So, I thought of creating their names and numbers with vinyl and sticking them on. What cutting machine & paper do I need to make something like this?

Would vinyl really hold up for an extended time? I have vinyl letters on some food storage bins in my pantry with no issues, but seems like a kids' sports bottle might take much more abuse.

I think any cutter can probably do it? I did mine on my Cricut, but of course I am limited to the font cartridges I have. If I was buying now I'd buy a Silhouette, which didn't exist when I got the Cricut.

Silhouette is prob the best way to go. You have more freedom with it, though there is software that you can purchase to create with files other than cartridges with the cricut.

I looked on Pinterest and found several examples. It seems that vinyl is the norm. More specifically outdoor vinyl.

I didn't even know there was outdoor vinyl. Cool.

My advice would be to buy the vinyl and then pay (or beg) someone to cut it on their Silhouette in the font of your choice. Unless you already have a burning desire to buy a Silhouette.
