Valentines - Lover or Hater? |Pad Patter 2.14.17

as for my husband - cupid would literally have to shoot him in the behind - for him to do something.
i think our DH's are cut from the same cloth, so i've learned to make not much of a deal of it and if easter can move around, i figure we should be able to celebrate love whenever "surprise! it's valentine's day on the 2nd of june this year!" sounds more fun to me - or maybe have an annual RAK day? i dunno, in general i think there are too many 'special days' now.
my family always treated it like a hallmark holiday like @AnneofAlamo said - and really, any other day, roses and flowers in general are so much cheaper! not a hater but i'm not 100% on either side

Don't love or hate it - just an ignorer of the day generally. Neither my husband or I remember our anniversary (until my mother reminds me day later!) so Valentines day is going to be way down the list of days we celebrate...

I'm "meh" about Valentines Day. We usually go out to dinner but with the whole family. We don't do cards. Sometimes we do gifts. This year, my hubby bought me a beautiful Pandora ring (which my daughter picked out. :D). He also go me flowers. I really appreciate it but it's very difficult to reciprocate with him because he is the kind of guy who doesn't need or want a lot of stuff. So, I usually get him some candy that he likes and some cigars.

We did the Valentine Grams at our school, but I don't remember them being super expensive, maybe a dollar... What I remember is sending one to all my friends, so we'd buy them when they first started selling them so we had time to write something special to each one of our friends. Then, during class, they'd get handed out and we'd all giggle at how much our lives had changed in the 2 weeks since we bought the things to when they handed them out. At our school, because the price was low, and the parents generally had money, not many kids were left out. I can't remember any not getting at least one. It was a nice place to grow up. I never got to actually live there but my mom drove me in every day from our affordable neighborhood (read horrible/dangerous neighborhood) because she got me a transfer due to the good school being closer to her work at the job she got so I could go to the good school! She made a lot of great sacrifices for me, that lady!! If you are one to watch movies, she loved the movie "A Knight's Tale" and she prided herself in knowing she helped "change my stars" because now I live in a neighborhood like the one she drove me an hour both ways to get to every day...

They also did carol grams for Christmas where the choir would deliver a candy cane for your friend and a song for the class, and all kinds of ridiculous stuff like that...

Huggles!!

It's just another Hallmark holiday. But, yes, we go out to dinner, but we do that a lot anyway. We don't buy cards or gifts anymore.

I'm not a mushy romantic kind of girl so if I were to some how totally space on what day it fell on I wouldn't cry LOL!!

I did have some fun Monday helping my middle decorate her Valentine box for school...I took the easy way out and let her pick out some stuff from the Harper kit, used my ecal software to resize (it's still easier for me than CS5) printed them out and helped her cut and she glued everything down.

I am going to vote Lover!
I get the hubs and kids cupcakes, choccies and all I ask is a nice dinner/lunch date or a gift that says I love you, I know you, I appreciate you. Sometimes he gets it right and other times he gets it wrong but we're in it together anyway, this thing called life. Besides it's an excuse to dress up and take photos, what's not to love?

Apparently at the elementary school they sold something that would be handed out during class time. Not roses, but gah! How horrible to start that thing in elementary school!
Yikes! That's terrible that it started in elementary school.

I'm a lover, although I don't like to receive the usual things. In the past my hubby would spend a lot on flowers, or jewelry, but I don't like those things. I'm more practical and like to get a digi class or a new outfit... hehe. I always get my hubby and the kids a little something too... candy, new outfit, make a card, etc. I also like my hubby to take me out to dinner. This year we did take out for the whole family, so we didn't have to fight the crowds at the restaurants.

I also helped with the 5th grade class valentine party. I did a valentine heads up game and provided strawberry soda floats with red vine licorice straws.
