My son started USC as a Freshman last year and we were excited to go to our first family weekend in October to see him and meet his friends. But on the morning we were supposed to leave, our dog injured his back and lost use of his back legs. So, we had to cancel and take care of the doggy (who thankfully has almost entirely recovered after a long road of therapy.)

So THIS year we were doubly excited to go to family weekend (we still haven’t even met his roommate of 2 years!) and we’re scheduled to fly to Los Angeles on Friday. Well Hubby came home from work tonight with the “cold ”that has been going around here which turns out to be COVID! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Another family weekend canceled for us! I can’t believe it!

oh no! That's awful! I'm so sorry for you guys. My oldest just left for college this year, so I totally know how devastated I would have been to miss seeing my guy. I sure hope that you are able to reschedule a trip for a few weeks from now and just make your own family weekend.

Thanks ladies! I think we will definitely try to find another weekend to visit. And hope springs eternal that we'll get there for family weekend sometime before he graduates!!! :rollin

Awe man! Having one cancellation is bad enough; so sorry you’ve had it happen two years in a row! I hope you’re able to make it work out another time. Third time’s a charm, right?!

Oh that stinks! If it's any consolation, of the seven parent weekends we could have gone to so far, we have only gone to one. Since then we've just picked random weekends to visit. Much more laid back and we've actually gotten to spend time with the roommates that way. When we went to my son's first parents' weekend at Michigan, the roommate was off with his parents the entire time. You do miss out on all of the planned activities... but I've found that they really enjoy a meal out at any time lol! And when you don't go on actual parents' weekend... you might end up with a table full of their friends and then you get to hear the real stories! :giggle

Oh, I'm so very sorry! Our world has been turned upside down and while it is so much better, there are still issues like these. I hope you are able to make arrangements to go another time!
