*Smell my feet, give me something good to eat* My granddaughter was singing that this morning, followed by *I want sketti and meatballs*.
Halloween Day! But it sure doesn't feel like it here. We had trick-or-treating last night. It's been a big mess of confusion because every little town wants to do something different. I had a whole 1 trick-or-treater, even though I live in a destination subdivision. My theory is that because we live at the bottom of a steep hill, no one wants to hike back up it for a couple pieces of candy haha. This was the first year in 31 years, that I have not walked around this neighborhood trick-or-treating with my kids or grandkids...and it was glorious :giggle

If you are celebrating Halloween, did they change trick-or-treat where you live or is it on for tonight?
Do you do door to door, or more of a destination or trunk-or-treat situation?
Do you get lots of trick-or-treaters at your house?

No halloween here. We never celebrate it - but I do admire those that dress up and go for it.

No matter what day of the week the 31st falls on, trick or treating in my town is always the last Thursday of the month. This year it started raining about half way through the time allotted. Kids stayed out. I have not given out candy for probably 30 years. Started when Mom was sick and we just didn't want the activity to bother her. For a period of time there weren't that many small kids in the neighborhood either. We also don't have street lights or sidewalks in the subdivision. More younger families are moving in but they tend to stay on their streets for TorT.

"Trick or Treat Smell My Feet" LOL Jan! I always say that, too.

No little gremlins clear out here in the middle of nowhere. I kind of miss the little cuties ringing my doorbell, though.

I helped my granddaughter make some Halloween treats Friday for a little Halloween gathering she is having with a few friends….lots of fun.
In our old neighborhood we had 200-300 trick or treaters but in our current neighborhood we might have 20 to 30. I’m sure Covid will decrease the number even further. Two years ago, before the pandemic, DH wore a costume where it looked like a knife was stuck in his head. A sweet little girl, got her treat and then said, “Are you okay?”

This was the first year that my oldest did not ToT (and the first Halloween that my ex & I have spent apart) so it was just my youngest & me. It was pretty weird (and quiet!). We went ToT in my sister's & BIL's neighborhood (also a first since they moved this past spring) so we got a little lost & ended up walking more than 2 miles around before we got back to their place. We had pizza afterwards.

We usually do trunk or treats beforehand but we were in FL last weekend (when the majority of the ones we could find were happening) and they were with their dad this weekend so it's just actual Halloween ToT for us.

I have never actually passed out candy at my house as I'm always out taking my kids around. We moved this past year onto a busy(ish) road so I'm not sure that we even would get many ToTers here.

Ours was tonight and we only had about 35 kids come by. That means we have WAY too much candy left over. Oops!

Our city did a downtown in the park thing, so no doorbell ringing. Haven't ever had it in all 4 years of living here, so it wasn't a change, lol.

Our town did Trick or Treat on Friday night, but it was pouring and windy, and just nasty out. So, the rebels we are, we went tonight-------->>>>HALLOWEEN NIGHT! (Of course, people were having a fit about it on FB on our local page all weekend. Some thought people should just go in the rain, others thought the township has no right to tell us when to go, and others just said they were still going on HALLOWEEN!) There were quite a few people still giving out candy and some who just left their treats on their front porch for kids to get their own. It wasn't near as much fun this year as previous years, though. Kids are just getting older in the neighborhood and just not going anymore, I guess. My 14 yo son wore a Halloween 'suit' and went just so his brother wouldn't be trick or treating with just Mom & Dad. My 11 yo wore his warrior costume from last year, but said it was too much trouble to carry the sword! So, this may just be our last year. My daughter was working(at a 24-hour diner) and dressed up as Wednesday from the Addams Family. She said it was a really slow night which is very unusual for a holiday.

We did take the kids to Knoebels which is a family-owned amusement park for their Halloween weekend last weekend, but that too was a bit disappointing. They didn't give out candy, and most of the rides were closed. We didn't even carve pumpkins this year because we were so busy with cross country and the kids were just never all three home at the same time. Our town had a parade Monday night, and it lasted like 5 minutes. It took us longer to park and walk there than to see the actual parade. The crossing guard even said to me, "is that it, already? it's never been this short!" Kind of a sad Halloween this year. It's not my favorite holiday, but it seems like people just gave up on it this year. I don't know, maybe it's just covid exhaustion. Hopefully, our town hasn't given up on Christmas, too!

Melissa went out with her friend Ben for trick or treating. Ben’s neighborhood was crawling with cute kids and she got tons of candy!

We leave the lights off because the kids freak the cats out. I feel terrible about it but tigger is 12 and he is grumpy enough as it is.

As far as I can remember Halloween has always been on Halloween. I didn't participate this year ... just didn't feel like hopping up and down, plus I don't normally get that many kids. So no decorations, porch light off, and front door closed. I put my window blinds down earlier than I usually do.

We only have one small child on our street. We're just an older street with limited street lights and no one really trick-or-treated here, even when my kiddos were small.

Our next door neighbors on one side give my kiddos a bag of candy every year though. They are so nice!

We aren't huge Halloween fans. We never get any trick or treaters because of where we live...rural, mountainous, etc... And I don't think we've ever taken our younger kids trick or treating.

But my sister's church did a Trunk or Treat on Sat night that she invited us to. We can't pass up an invite from their favorite Aunt. So the 3 youngest dressed up and we went. Then on Sunday night we walked down to my sister's and "trick or treated" at her house. The older kids were all doing a Bible Study at our house and we needed to get out for a little while.

The best part was when my 11 year old daughter, who dressed up like Shakespeare, knocked on my sister's door and said, "Whilst thou give me candy or whilst thou not give me candy? That is the question!"

She cracks me up.

We went trick or treating last night. Our street was quieter, only about 60 kids to our house, but I think it's because we don't have a sidewalk or street lights on our side. They are on the other side of the street, which happens to be a school. But Matthew and I walked around for about 2 hours! We saw tons of kids, and a nearby neighbor street said she got about 200 to her door. Nick had to work, so Grammy handed out candy. It was a fabulous night. Matthew didn't wear a coat at all!

trick or treat here is always the last Thursday or October. My kids are now older so we don't go out walking anymore but we still carry on the tradition of going to my aunt's house and have a small get together with food and usually some games and pass candy out there! They get a ton of trick or treaters at their house!

If you are celebrating Halloween, did they change trick-or-treat where you live or is it on for tonight? Not sure what day our area did Halloween, out of the loop!
Do you do door to door, or more of a destination or trunk-or-treat situation? I always did door-to-door as a kid.
Do you get lots of trick-or-treaters at your house? We live next to a "destination neighborhood" so we always left to go there. Not many kids live on our street.
