Total Scare but I'm OK

Just a little back story......I ended up with a pacemaker 5 years ago because my heart rate just kept dropping and when I was sleeping, I dove down to 20-22 bpm so I ended up with a little 'ticker' box.

Well, since then everything has been rolling right along and I can pretty much do whatever I want to do without any problems. Every 8 weeks I have to send a reading via a transmit box to the clinic so they can monitor everything. About a month ago, I got a call from my doctor saying I needed to come in because something wasn't quite right. Yea, I've been freakin' out and unable to concentrate on anything. I think I barely got 3 layouts done this month.

Today was my doctors appointment and found out that it wasn't the pacemaker but my heart that's causing the issues. Seems as though I have an early warning system installed in me and I may have a blockage. Yea, not exactly what I wanted to hear. So now, I gotta go back in for an ultrasound and a stress test.

But....the bright side is that I'm still here & breathing!
 
Oh my goodness, Melanie. I can only imagine how stressful the waiting must have been. I hope the followup procedures put you in the clear, or that at the very least whatever comes next is easy!

Thank goodness for early warning systems. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing right through the testing!
 
Jeez, you'd think when they have a warning bell go off, they'd have you go in *immediately* instead of waiting a MONTH to find out what the heck is going on. You'd think that simple thing would help lower your stress. I hope the tests go well for you.
 
Scary for sure, but I'm glad you found out something is going on now instead of later. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for you xo
 
Yuck. Scary stuff... hopefully they caught it early enough that it won't be anything major! Keep us posted!
 
Yikes...way to stress you out. I'm glad they caught it early and that the tests reveal nothing too serious. I'll be sending you good thoughts!
 
Wow-- a warning system? Amazing! That's intense stuff but this new news could be adding years to your life. Good luck with everything, Mel. I'm so glad your docs are on top of your heart heath!
 
Good grief. Maybe waiting for a month to find out what was happening was the stress test?! Crazy. So glad they are catching it early.
 
Oh no! That stinks. I get major anxiety whenever anything goes wrong health-wise, so I feel for ya. I'll keep you in my prayers!
