How do you keep track of the stories and pictures you want to scrap?

It was a little easier when I was a paper scrapper since I just kept piles of pictures for each layout I wanted to complete. But now I don't have much a system besides a little list I keep in a notebook. So when all else fails, I just start flipping through months and months of photos and wait for some story to grab me.

I don't really do "stories" for the most part. So I just have a "photos" folder on my laptop that's everything I've decided is scrapable. I really need to weed through it and delete some of it, because I'll never get to all of them, and some of them aren't as scrapable as I originally thought!

I have a digital scratch pad on my desktop(I added it to the Google bar) that I just add topics to as I think of them. It's a pretty long list. I don't keep track of which photos need scrapping. Most of my photos get scrapped just from the sheer number of layouts I do.

I'm pretty bad at remembering what stories I want scrapped. Sometimes I make a note of them but most often I go for the flicking through photos and seeing what appeals. It's annoying cos sometimes I scrap a photo and then remember that I had a different idea for it. I'm not much help, really, sorry!

my layouts have no rhyme or reason to them (other than being for CT requirement) but I've been thinking it would be nice to scrap in a more organized way.

Does anyone use Log Your Memory stuff? I'm wondering if such a system would work for me :think

I sort of just go with it. I jot notes down in a notebook sometimes. But for the most part when I'm scrapping a page about Nicholas it's rarely about a specific event, but more about him in general. I sort of consider his entire album to be "letters to Nicholas" because it's just me writing to him, but not necessarily recording a time/event/place. Although all my photos are dated on import, so I do record the date.

I have a list on my desktop with stories/topics I want to scrap about. Some are events and some everyday stories.

I mostly just wing it. However, about this time every year I revisit my photo folder for the year and make a list of those pics I want to scrap but haven't made it around to just yet.

I have no system at all. Maybe I should get one? It's all in my head at the moment, and my head is not the most organised of places;)

I used to have a list of things I wanted to scrap but I threw it out as I was getting frustrated as I wasn't crossing anything off it :giggle

That is a really good idea! I need to do that, especially since I will start deleting the photos off my laptop soon to make room for 2010.

I'm on the CT for Log Your Memory and I love it! My Log Book is getting well used for December! It's great to have one place to put everything as it's a calendar, planner, journaller, room for LO sketches, challenges etc. :happydance2

I saw something about this somewhere else recently and thought it looked like a good idea. I just didn't know if I would actually put it to use or not.

I need to have a better system, but what I have done recently is go through my pictures for a certain year and then make folders with the name of the event/memory that I want to scrap and put the pics in there. Sometimes i use all the pictures and sometimes just one or two, but at least I have the best pictures from the event and maybe an idea or two of what I want to do. I also keep a word document on my desktop where I do some random journaling for pages that I know that I want to do and then I can just add the journaling whenever I get around to making the page.

I am trying to be better at this. Previously I would go through each month and pick out the most scrapable pics and move copies to my scrap folder.

Lately, I have a private blog where I list my Do Everyday List which is a list I made up a year ago to help me make sure each day I try to focus my activities on a few priorities I have for my life. At the end I edit at least one pic and a love note highlighting one memory from the day. The do everyday list along wit the love note and pic are suppose to help me keep track of stories I can tell through scrapping.

After I upload my pics to Lightroom, I go through to edit/delete and if I plan to scrap with the pictures, I export them to a folder to be scrapped (filed by month). As far as making notes, that's a good idea, but I generally remember the story behind it and if not I can refer to my blog.

oh wait... we were supposed to have a plan? WHOOPS!!!! lol i just scrap the pics that inspire me to scrap. SOmetimes there is a story I want to tell about an event so I try to get pictures to capture that.

yeah..I have no kind of plan whatsoever! lol I wing it and I really should do something that makes more sense next year maybe, lol

No plan for me either. I just scrap what I feel like at the moment. Sometimes there is a story, sometimes there isn't.

This is a great idea too. I have a private blog I use to jot down memories and journaling but I don't do it often enough.
