Do you struggle with this? I work at home, have my work computer side by side with my personal computer and find it so hard to keep myself from putting aside my work and wanting to scrap a page. I am going to try to be more consistent with time management and allow myself an hour in the morning and then other than a few comments/questions, stay focused on my job for a few hours so that in the afternoon I can take some time to play (without guilt). I need to be more consistent on the wkend too about getting housework done b/c of course I'd much rather play than clean LOL

I am an organization irritating person! I thrive in taking chaos and bringing calm. lol hence 7 children and way too many things going on at one time.

:thumbsupsAnne...with having your 7 kids, you would have to be organized or you'd probably be ripping your hair out. Plus on top of everything you must have to do in your personal life, you manage to get a page or two done everyday...now that takes organization

I use the Chrome browser and installed the Strict Pomodoro extension. I can block browsing of time wasting internet site with that extension.

Hah. Time Management is not my forte. Plus this is my job, so it's really easy for me to justify "forum reading" and "Pinterest browsing" as work related.

I'm constantly struggling to better manage my time. DH constantly tells me that i overestimate one person's abilities to do it all. But darn it I'm going to keep trying.

I think as a WAHM, time management is a constant struggle because I get pulled in so many directions. My best way to manage my time is LISTS. I pretty much live or die by my lists. Especially with so many balls in the air with family, kids' activities, church, volunteering...and work...not to mention making time for my friends and hobbies, I find that I have to be very intentional. Every day I pick one thing as my MUST-DO for each of those areas. What's the one thing I can do today that will have the most impact for my family? For work? Etc. I've found that has lowered my time frustration quite a bit because even if I only get 4 things done, they made a difference that day. Now that I've written a novel. Hahaha. That might have been more than you really wanted to know.

I put everything in my phone calendar if it's not there, it doesn't exist!

I consider myself to be a very organized person, but I do struggle with time management. However, once I make the decision to focus on what I need to, I'm pretty good at staying on task.

I'm a list maker too. I do like the idea of picking just one thing to accomplish. That would probably be doable rather than the list of many things that never get done and then I feel guilty and stressed about it. I am the queen of procrastination...hey....I think a scrap page about that would be good :)

I kind of do the same as Laura as far as lists go. I have a big master to do list that I keep on the computer. But every night I write down 5 items to accomplish the next day. This can include anything that I deem to be important.

For example tomorrow's list is:

Put together Project Life binder (I have all my notes and layout plans in a drawer in no particular order...i just need to hole punch them and get them in order in a book)
Unpack one box
Clean off desk (this one pops up often...lol)
Make hair appointment for Liz
Finish CT layouts for Friday

This is in addition to my daily and weekly cleaning checklist (which some days I'm much better at following than others..lol).
Without my lists it seems like nothing gets accomplished. With lists I get things done primarily for the satisfaction of crossing it off.

I would fail so miserably if I worked at home and sat in front of my computer with Photoshop at my fingertips. I'm pretty sure I'd be constantly caught up on my scrapping though. :giggle

What's time management??? lol!

I'm still working on getting into a better mode to get things accomplished. My kid's summer break broke all routines and still trying to adjust to school and extracurricular schedules. If I didn't have my phone & google calendar with alarms I'd be beyond lost!!!

I'm with Lori on this one... we're supposed to manage our time?! I'm terrible about losing track of time while at the computer. I don't work, but I'm in school (online) part-time, so I tend to wind up finishing up assignments at the last minute because I went on the computer to do school and got sidetracked by facebook, or here.

I'm afraid I'm not very good these days about planning or trying to "mange" anything. I tend to just fly by the seat of my pants and attack whatever seems most pressing. If there's nothing looming too imminently, I end up wasting a lot of time and not accomplishing much. Laura's system sounds like something I should try!

Rae - I work form home too, and have my personal laptop sitting next to my work laptop. I am in meetings most of the day and I feel like scrapping is fine to do when I don't need to present at the meeting :)

Rachel - it is convenient to have the computers side by side. I can batch edit wedding photos in PS while I do my work on the other computer and if I'm not editing I can create pages. My problem is I lose track of time and the few minutes here and there that I tell myself I will devote to scrapping turns into hours and then I'm scrambling to get everything done LOL. Luckily, to a certain extent, I can make my own hours and extend my work day to include lots of time on my personal pc. It's all the other things that slide and never get done, groceries, cleaning, laundry....all the mundane things.

I used to do this reward system.
I put a load of laundry in, swish the toilets, wipe down the bathroom and pull out dinner
set timer for 30 minutes on puter
then
do a load of paperwork, iron hubby's clothes for the week, reboot laundry and start another, empty dishwasher,
timer again
this really really helped me...but............
all that being said, I gave up Facebook because I was losing too much time there, cause I love people! lol
