Thrift Stores|Pad Patter 11.10

I have always loved thrifting...
warning reminiscing story coming up.
cue the music....

when I was little, my mom would take us to the local thrift stores, because we were the poor kids in the school
I grew up in Napa, California. My parents pinched every penny to live there, and raise us out of the hood!
(now I am in my 50s) but there wasn't selection of clothing stores about.
My mom found the most beautiful pink sweater for me...I loved it.
I wore it to school and a very mean girl....
came up and said, ooooooooooooh you have my sweater...cause it is missing the same button on the sleeve.
sure enough...3 buttons on one side 2 on the other.
I was so embarrassed.
8th grade embarrassed, but I told my mom.
She hugged me, and the next morning that pink sweater, had all new beautiful buttons (from my granmas jar)
and I wore it proudly
that girl - still mean
but I showed her that my mom was pretty amazing...
she said it looked nice and huffed away..
but my mom got a bigger hug that afternoon

Ok, I was just commenting on this yesterday. Sure enough, my mom had the boys today & went to McDonald's & Savers. They came home with a book about a boy with dinosaurs, 2 toy treehouses, & a whole bunch of train tracks. Like we needed more train tracks!!! Lol.
