When’s the last time someone did something thoughtful for you? Just last night, a lady at church, one of the older-than-me ladies, brought me a homemade, fabric-covered, portable footrest (just a block of wood, a little bigger than a brick)--it even has a fabric handle! It totally caught me by surprise. She had noticed that I, being of short stature, was having a hard time sitting in all the chairs in the building because my feet don't touch the ground (if you know, you know!). I was blown away by someone being that observant and THOUGHTFUL. I had noticed some ladies had these cute little things, but didn't ask anyone about them. Figured if I was THAT uncomfortable, I could get something like it, but really, it's been a life-long issue and I didn't think that much about it! (Yes, this will be a scrapbook page soon!)
When’s the last time you did something thoughtful for someone else? I had a friend who died from Covid. She left behind 3 sons, one of whom was married with twins (boy and girl) and a new baby. Over the years, I have stayed in touch with this family, gone to baseball games, volleyball games, supported the daughter-in-law's business, helped with fundraisers for the kids' sports. But a couple of weeks ago, and I truly believe this was God-inspired, I was getting ready to reach out to her because I knew it was back-to-school time and both her twins are now in high school and I know how expensive their sports are. I was hopping on to Facebook to message her, and saw she had a post asking for financial help to cover a utility bill. I didn't hesitate to let her know I could cover the whole amount and double it, because that's what I had already planned to offer.
When’s the last time you did something thoughtful for yourself? Make sure you take care of you! Oh, good grief. All I do is think about myself! A storm came through yesterday and somehow while my car was parked at work it got covered with mud. You better believe I took advantage of my new car wash membership and took care of that! No one's gonna muddy scrapchyck's Kia Soul and get away with it! LOL
When you think of someone who is thoughtful, who comes to mind? My friend Kathy. She's the one who brought Clementines over to my house during the Covid lockdown, left on my porch, when I posted on Facebook that I had a hankerin' for oranges. She remembers birthdays, she does so much behind-the-scenes to make people comfortable. Amazing person!
Here's the thing about thoughfulness. We can all have those kind thoughts, like, "I should pick up some special coffee drinks for the team before work." But it's not really thoughtfulness until you DO it. Change those shoulds to WILL! I will pick up some coffee for the team and follow through. (Okay, done preaching).
