This Will Probably Sound Pathetic

I think I am having an anxiety attack.
Yesterday the cable box was acting wonky - it was recording episodes as scheduled but it wouldn't play them back. This has happened before. I would just turn everything off and let the box get over it's spazz and things would go back to normal. So last night I turned everything off.
Today I turned on the TV and went to check the recordings. NOTHING is there. O% It's ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL gone! :tantrum

I know this makes me sound like a TV freak and I do enjoy some shows, but I am not the TV junkie in our house. In fact I rather enjoy the quiet and do not turn on the TV during the day when I am at home. It is my husband - TV is like his crack!!! He turns it on when he walks in the door from work. Naturally he is away doing guy stuff this weekend and will be back this evening. I am sure he will spazz over the empty DVR. He will blame it on my untechy woman brain and assume I clicked on some reset button or something like that. I didn't do anything - it just died. ACK!

Anyone here have a similar thing happen?

I had it happen when I switched cable boxes but then thought OF COURSE it would. Next time I'll watch them all before I make a switch!

Never had this happen, but I feel your pain! My DH is a total TV addict too... I hope yours is at least somewhat understanding!

I gasped when I read this. I don't even want to entertain the possibility of my TiVo betraying me in such a way. I understand your pain.

Happened to us once when Emily was younger - all her favourite mumneedstocleanputthetvon shows were erased. Drove me batty

Oh it happens never fear .. our TV recorder HD just went pffft for no reason and I lost all my Merlin episodes and I was so upset until that season came out on DVD arghghgh! Hubby thought it was the heat (it was the height of summer and we were having some stinkers!) but sometimes it just happens :(.... here's hoping hubby isn't too peeved.

Oh gosh Trista, that is horrid!!! Eeeeeks!!! (I'm not a TV lover either, but it sure wouldn't be pretty to have that happen...)

Well at least I am not alone. ;)

DH was not as upset about things as I had imagined. Prob b/c he was too tired. LOL!
I'll have to go get a new one tomorrow... I don't want to miss The Voice!

Ugh! That's awful! I don't keep much on our DVR, but like you, my hubby fills it up with all his favorite shows. I'm glad your DH wasn't too upset. Phew!

I have never had this happen...of course I don't have DVR either:giggle. Probably should stop living in the stone age and upgrade ours:hide

Oh no, that's awful!

I wonder if there is some way to copy DVRed files back to a laptop to keep them permanently? Our son's team played the half-time show at the professional football game, and they actually gave our team about 4 minutes of "face-time", and we want to keep it. Is it possible to do this?

Heather I don't know if this is possible but it does sound like it is not that far fetched. Aside from DH stuffs we lost some episodes of cartoons that my kids watch from time to time. I don't think any of them will really be missed - I am thankful that my littles are not big TV watchers either.

Thanks to the techy age - DH was able to catch a few episodes on diff websites. Crisis averted. LOL!

I think that would drive me insane. We had to get a new receiver once and all of my DVR'd stuff disappeared. I think I may have had a mini-meltdown. LOL!
