This is what is happening in Brazil right now..

Love those photos Paula! When we lived in Ontario, we used to go to the Caribana parade every summer, which I think is similar to Carnival. The parade tooks hours and hours to pass by. Quite often the performers (and their amazing costumes) from Trinidad & Tobago and Brazil would end up at Caribana!

Afternoon I'll bring my girls to the carnival of our small town (I'm in Italy). is a very small thing, but the girls will enjoy a lot all dressed in costume. :)

well, I used to be MPB, Rock n Roll, even Sertanejo (though I know people think is taki or not good quality, am too old to deny=I LOVE novelas da Globo e dupla sertamjeja kkkkk) but coming the end of the year...I would be rehearsing at the Manguiera and going out in the Avenue..... there is nothing compared to being there..... am not even talking about watching it, but participating in it.... I went in 5 years for Mangueira & 2 for Padre Miguel (Mocidade)...then I was a tour guide apart from singing in 2 restaurants and couldn't afford to loose work :( and being in a Samba school is expensive....you have to pay for your own costume, but honestly? I'm SO glad I did it :)
Also Ferdy: good to see you here girl :) vou fazer tempo pra passar in your gallery !

Yes, I get your point, it must be an amazing experience to go on a huge Samba group, like Mangueira, Mocidade...I believe you, it's an unique experience!!
I can't imagine myself doing it, it's so freakin hot and all those heavy costumes...it's insane!!! =)

And it's good to see you here too, love your creative mind!!

Ohhh poor Cynthia...Oh God, SORRY...We've made you miss the Brazilian Carnival....

Yes Ferdy - The Parade people was passing just one meter from us!!!!!

I don't like Carnaval, but the whole country is celebrating! lol!! but I confess, I'd love to go to Rio just to see the "parade"...it looks so stunning on television! but I'm a rock n' roll girl, not a samba girl!! lol!!
Yes I also am the same way ... I'd rather read a good book in Carnival, but I confess that all this is contagious!!!!!!:bunny

Yes...yes!!!!!!!!

I would like to be looser ... but I am happy with all the excitement here in my living room ... who knows if one day I ventured, but I think I'm too old for this, I say old of spirit ... but we need in this particular time of year, because everything is so stressful, chores, work ...

carnival sounds like it would be a great experience to have at least once!!
and paula, your photos are amazing!!! i would love to go just to see the vibrance and color!!

My sister Bia was member of samba school Unidos da Tijuca, she take part in a parade at the 'sambodromo' in Rio de Janeiro yesterday!

Ever wondered how it is to "parade down the avenue"? Here a very cool software. Just "SCROLL down" and you will be literally "inside" the sambadrome parade.
scroll quickly up or down. very cool

Thank goodness I am miles, I mean MILES away from that :giggle
So many people close to each other! No way I'm going there ever! Lol if I were younger i probably would be there cause I used to love carnaval but now the only thing I can think of at this time is to rest! Better if it is far away from that crowd! :giggle

Fun! We live a few hours away from New Orleans, Louisiana, which has a big Mardi Gras party. I've told DH that we should go "just because we live close" but he thinks I'm CRAZY for wanting to go to such a big, drunken party but I think it would be fun. At least for like an hour; then I'd want to go back home rotfl. :)

I was in Bolivia during Carnaval when I was 21. It was quite the party!

Paula - I didn't even recognize the template until I read your note...lol! Your photos look great all together like that with the scatter of elements and the black background! Awesome!!

oh my gosh Paula, you were SO CLOSE to the parade!! That must have been so cool! I will see the parade someday too!
