I was browsing designer blogs yesterday I think it was and saw this tutorial on Pink Reptile Design's blog. The recommendation is to use thicker fonts and I actually don't have that many (I tend to stick to more handwritten ones) so what are your recommendations for free fonts that are thicker?

I don't buy fonts so these should all be found for free somewhere. I've had them a long time. These are some of the thicker ones that I use quite a bit when I make my own titles:

BD Cartoon Shout
Forte
Howser
Impact
Influx

I use Impact a lot.

@HavaDrPepper I don't buy fonts either so you are in good company there - I figure there are enough free fonts out there in the world (and my font folder is full to bursting to prove it too)

thanks for linking this post too! I really need to work on my titles this year :-)

I don't have the links for these but here are some thicker fonts that I like:
Broadway
Cafe Rojo
Cooper Black
Elephant
Falling Slowly Sans
Harlow Solid Italic
messygoat
Meyriska
Motion Therapy
Thalia
Tingler (Print & Script)

Some of my favorite thick fonts are also handwritten, if that's the style you like. I love KG Blank Space, KG Red Hands, and KG The Last Time. I also like DK Whale Song, but the characters available in the free version of that are more limited. (Some of the punctuation and some numbers have been replaced by a whale graphic, so I only use that one when all the characters I need for a title are available.)
