Not sure how many of you are around my Facebook, I posted something about this last night....
So I'm watching The Tudors on Netflix, as I didn't watch at the time (I think it run 2007 to 2010)
and in the beginning I got annoyed about the creative licenses TV & cinema get with historical facts....
there are a lot of people who don't know much about history and twisting the facts in things like these is just...well, not fair me thinks as it can confuse...
and also the image of the real Henry VIII kept creeping into my mind and not allowing me to drink in J Rhys Meyers beauty :giggle
but the one I most definitely feel in love is
Henry Cavill

so am gonna have to break my promise of never watching a Superman movie again...... wouldn't you?

I'm not usually one paying much attention to men's looks...but I have to admit this one makes me wanna be 20 or 25 years younger LOL

I loved The Tudors and loved Henry's character on there too! :) Hubba hubba! :giggle

I just cannot get over the fact that he is only 1 year younger than me! He certainly has the looks of a realllll man...yep, I'm kind of smitten too *sigh*

OoOooo oooooo I just watched Man of Steel w/my 15yo son. And we love it !!! For different reasons of cos :giggle

When that Superman 1st showed w/o his red undies, my eyes were ... were .... you know :blush

Think I'm gonna watch it again. No, not for THAT. Cos we bot the tickets rather late, and we're given the front row seats. I find watching the action scenes so out front just meshes up everything. Cannot see a thing. Unless it's supposed to be that, then I'll skip the re-watch.

I watched the Tudors when it was on and I had no idea Henry Cavill was so young - his character does age some in the series, but I still would have thought he was older. But he was definitely one of my faves on that show. Can't wait to see Superman!

I'm on series 2 already...thing is, because I have been very ill - is neurological so interfere with concentration/memory- I have to pick a time in the day I can relax and use all my concentration....
but yes, he has aged a bit already and he looks even more gorgeous every minute that passes LOL

Ohhh...so easy on the eyes :yowza The Tutors is on my to-watch list and I'll definitely enjoy watching Superman.

i never watched the tudors and was rather ignorant at school not wanting to learn about them but wish i had now cause my sons have been learning about them and do plays at school and there so interesting

Karen: be really careful if you are thinking about sharing with the kids.....mainly because of the high sexual content of the series...

The general content has not changed as much as to say is not the real history...but the creative license they have taken distorts the facts a lot in some cases....
I have to say, I did like History in general mainly because since I was 10, the one thing I wanted most in my life apart from being a performer was to travel, and I was fascinated by Europe's history and the old cities, the buildings, general past arquitecture always fascinated me....
But I learned a lot about Henry the VIII in the 70's after Rick Wakeman (of the band Yes) recorded his solo work , the main one was called Henry VIII's 6 wives....

the distortion in the series go as far as changing Popes from series 1 to series 2, because the guy who played Pope Clement (the one during Henry's reign) didn't come back and they got Peter O Toole to play the pope... so they made him come in as Pope Paul III which didn't come into office until after Henry was gone...
Some of the other facts twist is about Charles Brandon, then there are some sexual tendencies that history does not confirm, and things like having Ann Bolyein talking to the court's musicien as a peer...when she would never have done in those times, taken that this particular musicien (Mark Smitten) was a very humble origins guy...
anyway, facts are twisted but if you are not a fan of history will not make huge difference, the core of the history is there...plus, of course...Henry VIII was obese and everyone looks so beautiful in the series so it makes history something worth watching LOL just I wouldn't have kids around because of the sex scenes....

I think every English person should know about him, because it was him who created the Church of England......I think you will enjoy it...Netflix is a fiver a month, and they have a LOT of new movies coming out plus USA series which we don't get here on TV... :)

:) never watched the tudors however I want to see the man of steel.. maybe will go see in the movies. or will just wait until it comes out on cable... he is easy on the eyes, even without my glasses! @ Agnes, too funny.. yes I believe you re the action parts <grinning>

I love J Rhys Meyers. Love the Tudors. I have the DVDs...nice because I can skip to the "interesting"parts. The real historical parts, you know.
