All the time - we sit there watching an actor, trying to remeber what they were in - turn it into a cmpetition between my husband and myself (we are mostly wrong btw...) and then straight onto Imdb to check.
Didn't know Chris Hemsworth was a Star Trek until we checked. Was his first movie part after leaving Australia.
oh Didn't know either!!!!! in the series or the film?
Oh yeah, we check it all the time. I watch a lot of shows from the '70s & '80s. I love to to check to see if I'm right about who it is. My husband is easily distracted though and ends up missing a lot of whatever we're watching. lol
LOL us too!!!!! love the 70s & 80s stuff, and I also got Sarita to watch Brazilian & Argentine stuff from when I was younger!!!!
and with Sarita is like a bit of a show of that she knows who it is before we look it up !!!!!
Yes. I love IMDB. I can always remember a face, but I can't remember the name, what else they were in, etc.
Jan, me too... I am watching & think I know that face, so I stop, look on the imdb and LOVE looking up the stuff he or she was in through the years!!!!!
Oh I love IMDB. I think I have it up on my computer more than my email, lol. We use it all the time, same thing, wondering why that face is so familiar. Biggest surprise lately was:
Laura Bell Bundy - Young Sarah from Jumanji who is all grown up now and played Becky in How I Met Your Mother!
... oh I didn;t know!!!!!!!! I knew her as the Legally Blonde lead on Broadway!!!!!!!! such a talented girl!!!!!!!
We do too!!
But don't get your letters mixed up when typing it to the computer URL field. I was fired from a babysitting job when I was younger because apparently the letter mixed up went to an adult site, and they had to replace their computer from spam and pop ups afterwards.
I felt horrible, and trust me, I've never made that mistake again!
LOL Kristina!!!!!!
It happened to me once at an internet cafe in Manchester, I was looking for info that I could give the doctor I went to see there, about my consultant/surgeon here in London....the hospital I had the first 3 operations from 2003 was called The Middlesex Hospital..... the computer saw "sex" and locked .... I had to call and explain to the attendant who was very suspicious LOL
We use it all the time, and it's a bit of a competition with us, too. I'm normally the one who will say, "I've seen that person in such-and-such movie/TV show." Then Darren will tell me I'm wrong, pull out his phone to look it up, usually mutter a semi-expletive, and then put his phone away (meaning I was right- ha!). Or it will drive us both crazy trying to figure out where we've seen someone before, and we'll have to pause whatever we're watching and check IMDB.
I need to scrap a page about this!
LOL Sarita has a similar thing...but we guess both relatively well up until a couple of years ago...my neuro condition gives Sarita opportunities to go of on "see? I told you so!!!" LOL
I am SO looking forward to the page!!!!!! give us a shout when you post it!!!!!!! (though I hope I will have been able to catch up with gallery by then! <3
My hubby uses it all the time. I don't use it because he shares everything he reads. bwahahahaha
hahahahahahahahahaha Sarita is like that.... !!!!!!
Blush...Never heard of it.
Edit: it is now bookmarked on my kindle lol
oh you ll love it!!!!! when you go look, you can look up the series/film you are watvhi9ng, it will give you an intro and then under is the cast & crew, so you click on the actors name and go to his/her [age...and see everything they have been on!!!
I use it all the time.... along with Wikipedia. I like to see the movies they were in previously and if interested enough, go to Wikipedia to read a little bit about them as a person.
Yes, me too...though I am VERY cautious with Wikipedia.
I have corrected quiet a lot of pages.... mainly because the person is a Latino/a writing in English and the English doesn't make sense, but some info is not quiet what it should be.... but yes, my second source of knowing things is most def Wikipedia!!!
I love IMDb!
@MrsPeel is the JLaw movie Winter's Bone? My mom said that was an excellent film. I've never seen it, but I probably should: she was nominated for an Oscar.
Sara.... nope, is called The Burning Plain..... very VERY weird movie and thanks to the imdb I was able to understand what was going on ...as I went to lok at one of the boys in the fiest 10 minutes of the film....or I would have not gotten nothing of the story line....
the director doesn't give you dates, keeps jumping from one time line to another without giving you much to "get it"
but it was a good movie ...because I understood about the timelines....
Netflix just added it here in the UK last month....
I'm not up for watching dramas but it had Charlize Theron and the detective from The Mentalist in it so I thought I watch...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1068641/
My son and I are addicted to checking imdb while watching anything (much to the annoyance of my husband and daughter who could care less). What we have discovered is that almost everyone has been in an episode of Law & Order (any of the different ones) at some point in their career
YES!!!!!!!! you are right!!!!! Law & Order, now I discover also in Star Trek Voyager and I am sure I have seen quiet a lit of not known at the time passing through episodes of House!!!
Also I think CSI Vegas..... oh I love seeing people when they weren't all that famous....
another one whom I now recognize is the one who plays the Penguin in Gotham now..... he seems to have been in a bunch of series too!!
Yep, we do use it all the time, too. Like Jenn, I'm not a huge move/tv watcher, but when I am the convo goes something like "I know who that is......." and then "bet I can find it faster than you!!"
LOL I think many of us are like this!!!!!!!
I use it all the time. Especially when the kids want to see a movie, I'll check the Parent's Guide from imdb and decide from that whether I'll let them see their show or not. Very helpful!
OH how I wish I knew the imdb when Sarita was little!!!!!!
I just tried keeping her away from the TV when we came back to London...bought her Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, Annie, 101 Dalmatians and another bunch of Disney stuff on DVD and tried to avoid TV... but once she started year one...the other kids didnt seem to have much discipline with TV....
I think I was lucky the most extreme thing she liked was Charmed LOL
