It has been on my bucket list to learn how to sew. A new studio opened up last year and I was always intrigued by the signs, so I finally took the plunge and signed up. Well, I am hooked. I keep signing up for classes to learn new things and how to do things correctly.

I have gotten brave enough to attempt clothing on my own and was cutting out a cardigan to put together. I ran the rotary cutter over the end of my finger and I am now missing a chunk! I will spare you pictures! And we thought the chunk was too "small" to take in, but apparently you are to take anything in, no matter how small! Lesson learned that I hope I don't have to repeat.

Of course, I did it right when my in network urgent care closed, so I opted to go to an out of network urgent care versus the ER. 1. Because of the wait time and 2. It was almost cheaper for me to go out of network than to walk into the door of the ER.

I have pretty much been unable to do much typing, crafting or anything and that's why I have been a little quiet. I managed to craft a little this weekend to get a team project done and then I was determined to get that cardigan put together.

I am now jokingly referring to it as my 300.00 cardigan with the 1.50 a yard fabric from Walmart!!!!!

And I also ordered a "klutz" glove that you wear while you are rotary cutting. I probably should have had one of those BEFORE I started sewing!

Any injuries out there while crafting?? I know @Dalis had an injury not too long ago, but I don't remember if it was crafting related.

OUCH! Those rotary cutters are dangerous but so useful. I've had a few cuts from them, blisters from hot glue guns, nothing too major though. How it starts healing and feeling better soon.

EEK! I hope it heals quickly! I've cut myself and stabbed my finger with a needle a few times, but no injury was bad enough that a band-aid couldn't handle it.

I can't wait to see the $300 cardigan!

No major injuries here. Just a few paper cuts. I love my rotary cutter. I may need to check out this klutz glove you speak of.

I often burn my tummy baking. My arms are really short & it's hard to get stuff out of my oven. Also, I can't sew on cub scout badges without poking myself.

No crafting injuries. However, I burn myself in the kitchen frequently. Once I almost cut off the whole top of my thumb through the nail. I was slicing French bread and my thumb got in the way - 4 stitches and it is as good as new.

I now own No-Cut gloves and use them. They sound like your klutz gloves as they protect you from knives, etc.

Congratulations on the sewing!! I used to make all of my clothes then I had kids and quit. I did buy some fabric this summer for a skirt and a blouse. I keep forgetting I have it and summer is almost over.

OMG @KatrinaHunt13 ! I am so sorry, I didn't know you were supposed to bring little bits of fingers in to the ER with you. LOL!!!! I guess lesson learned. I am curious, what did they do for you? btw. Mine was cooking, but I have had my good list of crafting accidents. Like sewing through my nail! That was a good one! How is the cardigan going? I love to sew!

That sounds awful! So sorry! No crafting injuries here, but I've had some doozies in the kitchen. I love to watch John's face every time I pull out a knife. Poor guy is a nervous wreck until I'm done.
