What's on yours?

I'm going to try to limit myself to ONE grocery trip this year by not forgetting any dishes. :giggle

Our usual is:

Turkey
Dressing
Mashed Potatoes
Sweet Potato Casserole
Butternut Squash Puree
Cranberry Sauce w Oranges
Dinner Rolls
Pumpkin Pie

This year I'm also adding Brussel Sprouts with Balsamic and Cranberries that I saw on PW's site.

Usually I have to make all this. And we live out of state, so no one comes. But, this year, my son is cooking. He's in the culinary program in HS and he has to cook a holiday meal as part of his homework so YAY ME. Of course I'll probably make a bunch of these side dishes the day before to ease his burden because it's a lot of work for one person, even a chef in training. lol

Wow...good luck to your son! How fun for you to kind of sit back and relax. :)

We usually have:

turkey
sausage dressing
mashed taters and gravy
green beans with bacon
dinner rolls
pumpkin and apple pie

Last year the guys also made this stuffed meatloaf creation. It was actually really yummy.

the things we always make are
turkey
dressing
mashed potatoes and gravy
broccoli
rolls
salad
cranberry sauce
and pumpkin pie

if we're at my family's there is also always pecan pie and lemon chess pie
we've done cauliflower and/or brussels sprouts as well.

Really there usually just isn't much of a variation from this though.

whatever my mom prepares...this is only the second year in the last 9 that I have not cooked. lol This is what we traditionally have but the menu may change:

Turkey
Stuffing
Gravy
Green Beans
Cranberry Sauce
Rolls
Pecan Pie
Pumpkin Pie
Whipped Topping

I'm sure the kids and I will help prepare it but it will be nice to not be in charge for once. lol

ours is about the same.
turkey
gravy
mashed taters
green bean casserole
yams
rolls
green salad
jello salad
cranberry sauce
stuffing
and lots of pies

this year my mom has taken in lots of lone families.
one being our very good friends from tonga.
he's roasting 2 pigs for our feast (in my moms backyard!).
should be yummy!!!

oh and psst.
yams are my favorite!!!!!

there are 6 kids in my family, each having 4 kids of their own...
and THEN the 4 families and i don't know HOW many kids will be in addition to that!!
LOL
sure to be a crowd though!

I am traveling to my sister's house this year. I am taking this:

I have made this 3 times in the past 2 months and everyone always raves about how good it is.

We're having a small Thanksgiving this year - just us three. We're doing:

Turkey (in the Nesco)
Mashed Potatoes
Brussels Sprouts
Cranberries
Pumpkin Pie

I've eliminated the stuffing and the sweet potatoes, which makes me a little sad because I love those - but how many sides does a family of three need? Especially since poor Nicholas has to go do a second Thanksgiving dinner almost immediately afterward with his dad. We put it to a vote and my one vote for stuffing was trampled by their two votes for mashed potatoes. I might make some stuffing anyway because I'm a sore loser like that.

Mostly I'm looking forward to all the turkey sandwiches afterward. I could take or leave the actual Thanksgiving meal, the leftovers are where the party is at.

I'm still working on mine... this is the first yearI'm hosting and I'll need to do a ton ahead of time since I'll be running a 5k in the morning...

turkey
stuffing
Butter roasted carrots
mashed sweet potatoes
green beans
Cranberry sauce
Crust less pumpkin pie
Baked pear dessert

We usually have alot of family around us.
Turkey (2)
Dressing
Mashed Potatoes wtih Gravy
Sweet Potato Yams
Butternut Squash
Cranberry Sauce
Yeast Bread
Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Pies, Apple Pies, Cheese Cake, Blueberry CCake, Cookies
Jello and Pudding
Corn/Lamb Stew
Fry Bread
Blue Corn Mush
Blue Corn Bow Ties (traditional Navajo Food)
Salads - all different kinds.

Its a big gathering. But this year we are doing it small. So we will probably downsize the items but it will pretty much be the same :)

We are preparing:

Turkey
Stuffing (in the bird)
Stuffing (in the oven)
Sweet Potato Casserole
Mashed Potatoes
Turkey Gravy
Pumpkin pies (from scratch)

My MIL is bringing Scalloped Corn.
My SIL is bringing Green Bean Casserole
My parents are bringing bread & dinner rolls
Our adopted Grandma is bringing apple salad (Waldorf Salad + marshmallows)
My BIL is bringing cookies or something.

We divide up the work. :)

It depends on where we end up! If we end up at my moms then it will be a vegetarian thanksgiving. If we end up at my MILs family then it's a lot of different things since it's a huge family and everyone brings a dish or two. But they always have the basics, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie...

OMG Rachel! I just checked that recipe out! I think I'm making that this year!!! Thank you!!

angie, like you, we live out of state, so our TG is small. but this year my parents are actually coming. still, our menu is pretty big...but it's a big day, so go big or go home, right?

turkey
mashed potatoes
cranberry apple stuffing
steamed green beans & bacon
spinach salad
dinner rolls
deviled eggs
turtle pumpkin pie
apple pie

With the brand new baby I wasn't up for traveling the 8 hours to DH's family, so we are on our own this year - just us and the four littles. Also, DH is having his throat scoped Wednesday and will likely be on a liquid/soft food diet for a few days afterward, so it should make for an interesting meal. We're skipping the turkey altogether and just making a few yummy sides... those are my favorites anyway :) We'll for sure have:

mashed potatoes & gavy
raspberry pomegranate jello
green beans amandine
pumpkin pie

I found a couple recipes on pinterest I want to try too:

Well we aren't sure if we are even having Thanksgiving dinner. Hubby has to work a 14 hours shift that day. We were a little sad when we found out. We don't have any family that lives nearby so it is just us. Throw a newborn into that mix, and I just don't think I can make a huge big dinner all by myself while keeping four kids happy. I've bought all the fixin's just in case we decide to have it though. Our menu consists of....

Turkey
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Corn
Carrots
Stuffing
Jello salad
Relish Tray
Homemade Crescent Rolls
Pumpkin pie dessert {SOOOOOO much better than pumpkin pie}
Sugar cookies shaped like cookies.

I just went shopping today.

We're having all the usual stuff:

turkey (16 pounder for four adults, one ravenous teenage boy, and one kid)
stuffing (if I remember to make it!)
home-made mashed potatoes
asparagus, to roast
peas
cranberry jelly from the can (no other will do)
turkey gravy, hopefully also homemade (I borked it up last year)
rolls, cuz, you know, you need all the carbs you can get on T-day
I did buy a butternut squash, but I'm not sure if I'll cook that up

And a friend of ours brings the pies every year.
My daughter and her boyfriend, who is eating with us this year, intends to make Fettuccine Alfredo and a pumpkin pie-from scratch? We'll see.

Since we live far, far away from any family, we don't go to anyone's home for the day. It's just us, our friend, and my daughter's boyfriend this time.

We'll have 11 instead of our usual 14 here.

The plan is:
Turkey
Paula Deen's Cornbread Dressing
Mashed Potatoes
Sweet Potato Casserole
Gravy
Homemade Cranberries
Green Beans
Salad
Pineapple Casserole
Parker House Rolls
Pumpkin Pie
Pecan Pie
Cherry Pie
Hot Apple Cider

Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve are both at my house and the menu is about the same for both.

We will be heading to my brother in law and sister in law's house along with my husband's parents, so we will have 9 (including kids).

We are having:
turkey and ham (my in laws are crazy like that--they are getting them smoked from a local place)
sweet potatoes
corn
rolls
pumpkin pie

and then I am making:
mashed potatoes
cranberry relish
turnip gratin
sauteed green beans
stuffing (in the oven)
pecan pie
chocolate pie

Most everything is done except the potatoes and turnips and I will work on those in the morning.

And, Peppermint, I agree--I always look forward to the turkey sandwiches and leftovers too!
