After the trying day I had today with technology being an epic fail in many areas, it was a ray of light to see this tonight.
If anyone watched Jimmy Fallon last night you may have had your mind blown. No, I am not talking about Channing Tatum.... Yummy though right??

There was a technology guru, Joshua Topolsky, from The Verge there that showed an amazing camera that takes amazing photos. The camera is called the Lytro Illum. It captures rays of light, not pixels. AH.MAY.ZING!!
Check it out. https://www.lytro.com/
Mind! Blown!
I'm saving my pennies right now... it's $1600!
:dizzy

I heard about a small squarish camera from them a while back.... I think it was around $400, though. If I recall correctly (which I likely may not as I haven't quite finished my coffee this morning so my brain isn't completely functioning yet) Becky Higgins has one.

It was this http://www.amazon.com/Lytro-Light-Field-Camera-Graphite/dp/B0099QUSGM... you can apparently still buy one on amazon.

wow, love that camera! and channing and jimmy ... a trio of good stuff! ;) $1600 though ... ouch!

Wow. The good news is that if it ends up being fantabulous, the technology will be all over and affordable within a few years. Remember the 1st digital cameras. Yikes. LOL.

Super cool, though, if you had the $$ to spare.

Super cool. Only downside I see is that it's computer dependent. Printing loses something I'm sure. But remains to be seen. I was intrigued by the original Lytros when they came out, but haven't heard a lot of ooohing and aaahing over them. But this camera looks definitely interesting.

Jen's right...the first digi cameras were so expensive. I remember purchasing our first digital...the Sony Mavica that used the big floppy discs. $999 back in the day. And that was for around 1.8mp of resolution. My iPhone is way better than that, and smaller.

I don't see this in my bag any time soon, I am just in awe. The 3D technology is amazing. The fact that the camera captures all of the information and allows you to adjust the photo to focus on anything within the frame is just incredible. It's like having the information of 100s of digi photos in one shot.

This looks cool! It's not really something you'd utilize for paper or print (I'm guessing) but for online use - it would be fantastic! Lots of ways to have fun and be creative with it!
