So this thread got me thinking about when I had surgery. I had surgery when I was 14. I got a Sarah McLachlan CD. The night I got home from the hospital (I'd been there for I think 3 days), my mom got a movie from Blockbuster for us to watch. My mom's pick: The Full Monty. I was still on strong meds and she thought the story of unemployed steelworkers putting on a show was what I would want to see? "I've heard it was good and it was in stock!" Uh, thanks, Mom. I slept through the whole thing. If only Netflix had been around back then! Also...why didn't she ask me what I wanted to watch? (BTW: I watched it again as an adult. It's a good movie, but maybe not for a teen who's recovering from major surgery. Just saying.)
@Tree City really?!?! oh my goodness. yeah - maybe not interesting for a young teen girl who is tired and in pain. i think maybe your mom just wanted to see it - haha! that's a funny story! dang - remember those blockbuster days.
Glad she is home and surgery went well. What about an actual puzzle? I know puzzle books were suggested but an actual puzzle can really make the time pass.
After being laid up in bed for only one day last Friday, I have a whole different take on this. I couldn't get out of bed and was going stir crazy! Maybe schedule times for her friends to visit, to have someone stop by to play a game, regularly check on what she needs and stay and chat for a minute or two. Netflix got old after half a day and I was too affected by the anesthesia to really do anything serious. I even had to plan my own dinner! Not fun there. Even if the person does nothing more than sit there with her. It does get awfully lonely...
