Did you bother going outside & did you see it (or was it thick cloud like here? )

We saw the moon tonight (a day late for the big one! As always when there are notable astronomical events, it's raining or overcasr here 99% of the time). It was normalish size by time it cleared the trees, but we did see the international space station (which both kids have been obsessed with since a member here pointed it out :agree)

We did see it! We saw it Sunday night; it was definitely bigger than usual but I wish I'd been up early enough on Monday to see what size it was then because that's when it was supposed to very big here.

I took pics but they aren't very good lol. I should have gotten out the tripod and remote!

I tried to take a photo but it didn't really work out, so am happy that i saw it. Has definitely been brighter here the last few nights. I keep checking to see if we have left any lights on.

My daughter and I were at a charity event on Sunday ... I left early bc of a migraine. (before dark). A friend took my daughter home (after dark). She came home with a migraine too. It was a very loud and a very bright event. So I forgot all about the Super Moon that evening ... until yesterday morning (Monday), when I saw Dalis's page in the gallery. I set my alarm to remember to go outside to see if I could shot something last night. And there I was, standing in the dark ... and I couldn't see one stinkin' star in the sky. SO CLOUDY! boo! Then when I came inside with the camera around my neck my daughter was like, what were you doing. I told her trying to shot the super moon. and she says " oh I saw it last night when we were driving home from the event!!! It was huge and beautiful! But it hurt my eyes/head bc it was so bright!" ugh. She knows I am a nut with these things and would want to photograph that! I wish she would have just mentioned it when she walked in the door. But she didn't feel good so I forgive her. :beat

I hear it is sup'd to be good during Dec too. So maybe I have one more chance?

I have a fancy camera (when I thought I was getting into photography), but no tripod or super special lenses. But, I did manage to get a nice picture Sunday night, late. I did try to get some at the beach, but only had my iphone, so those pictures look like a blob. I'll take it though, lol! I'm not picky. I'm a better editor than photographer!

It was exciting to see though, and I enjoyed it!

I saw it Sunday night and it was HUGE but not orange at all. Then Monday night we had cloud coverage. I didn't even bother to try and take a photo since I know I don't have much luck with my iPhone. Dick saw it down in NC Monday night and he said it did have an orange tint. Closer to the equator??? LOL

I forgot about it on Sunday night (darn it) but last night I went out on my porch to try to get a shot of the super moon. I set up my tripod and used the camera timer to get clear a shot as possible but it was cloudy so the pics weren't that great. So I dismantled everything and came back inside and put it all away. Ten minutes later my hubs is yelling at me that the clouds are parting, you can see the moon better now, lets get out there (he's holding his ipad to take a pic LOL). So, I wasn't about to set it all up again (I was in the middle of doing some desk work) so I handheld my camera and took a few shots. Not the greatest with a bit of hand shake but I got a few pics and will have the memory and the kind of funny story about hubs and I setting up the tripod and yelling at each other but laughing too. If I had been on the ball I would have gone on Sunday to a spot I know of that overlooks the downtown area and gotten a perspective shot of the moon as it rose over the downtown area....but I didn't....sigh. But at least I got a pic on Monday. Here it is.

It was too cloudy both Sunday and Monday. Bummer. I kept trying last night just to see if there was a chance it peeked out but it didn't. Yep another thing to try for December.

We were on our way back from a walk, so we stopped and enjoyed the sight of it rising. Then we headed out later to see it in the sky. Both times I left my camera at home!

Love all the photos!! I have been watching it the last couple of nights and it is beautiful. It was still beautiful at 7 this morning when I left for work. I didn't try any photos this time mostly because I didn't want to stand out in the cold for too long :giggle. When we were listening to the radio the other day and they said there wouldn't be another one this big until 2034, my 11 year old said "Hey, I'll still be alive then!" I said "Well, gee, I hope I am, too!!" :giggle

I do have to say that I'm ready for it to go now, my kids at school are CRAZY!!! I used to tell my own kids that I could tell the moon change by how my students acted and they never believed me, but now that my son works EMS and my daughter works at the hospital, they get it!!!

Love, love, love those photos. I went outside last night but it was a no show here.
