It's what you do when you're family, right? No one in my husband's family likes stuffing. They are a Sweet Yams family. So I don't get any stuffing this year. :( Anyone know of any national chains that have turkey dinners that I can go and enjoy some stuffing this week?? LOL

Are you a stuffing person or a yam/potatoes person?

For our Thanksgiving (in October) we do both. Sorry you are missing out.

I am the only one that likes stuffing in the family too. I know Cracker Barrel had been sending emails about their Turkey dinners. Maybe they have it? I will try to think of others too.

speaking of stuffing, Great Harvest bread Company has stuffing bread!!! It’s baked bread that has things that normally stuffing has in it and it is delicious! They only have it in November and December on certain days of the week. It is the best toasted with butter and served with scrambled eggs. Oh my!!! See if they sell in your area. I know they have them in Michigan and Colorado.

@Pachimac, sorry you're not getting any stuffing.

For both Canadian Thanksgiving and Christmas, I do stuffing and mashed potatoes, but not sweet potatoes/yams. I usually also do some other easy root veg or squash (roasted butternut squash, or roasted carrots, or, more traditionally, carrot-and-turnip mash).

I love stuffing, but we're not having it this year. We're not having turkey, either. :(

I'm not a stuffing person, but will eat a bite or two at the holidays. I really don't like yams at all.
Around here, Cracker Barrel and Bob Evans would be our go-tos for stuffing.

Sorry you didn't get your turkey or stuffing. I'd be cross if I didn't get my turkey.

I don't like stuffing but we made some for hubby and a couple of the kids. We also made a sweet potato casserole and it was soooo yummy. It's more like a dessert more than a side.

It was only the 6 of us but we had it all. Hubby smoked turkey. I made mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, cranberries, relish tray, cheese ball and crackers. We'll also have pie; banana cream, pumpkin and apple, later tonight.

We had sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, and dressing - which is different from stuffing in that it uses cornbread rather than a yeast bread and is denser. I guess it's a southern thing? The dressing is so good eaten with my sister's cranberry relish.

We always have stuffing. My family loves it. We don't always have sweet potatoes but we did this year. Yum!

My husbands family are true southerners and they eat dressing. My husband loves it but no one in my family really likes it. Last year I made it for him but this year I forgot! So, I may just make it to go with dinner one night.

We always do both! My sister makes a mean sweet potato casserole, I tried once but mine didn't turn out like hers! We have a family tradition with the stuffing made from scratch. Kids have to tear up the bread and then hand knead in the wet ingredients. This year it was all three generations! :D Even DIL joined in. Happy happy happy!! :byay Big deal, cos she is Suth'ern born and raised- they don't do stuffing, they do rice and mac n cheese :think:huh and of course collard greens ( those are often nasty and bitter! Takes a real knack to make them well:giggle} Oh, and potato salad instead of mashed potatoes. WITW????

Stuffing is in the turkey .. dressing is on the side :) I make a clam dip the last few years made with breadcrumbs that is similar to a stuffing so that is what we do.

I love dressing, not the cornbread, but the bread stuffing (peperidge farm) and I make it traditional. I always make it. my MIL who use to cook made a New Orleans style stuffing with ground beef in it. Not my favorite. We don't bake our turkey anymore. We fry it.

Boy someone does not look happy!!! Sounds like a great time! What a wonderful tradition! I am a southern gal too (Charleston, SC) and we did rice as well.

I interchange stuffing and dressing. Since I always use Peperidge Farm stuffing mix, I didn't know there was a difference. I buy the bread vs the cornbread type.

Cracker Barrel.
Or, if you are buffet brave, road trip to St. George and the Chuck a rama. They do a great stuffing! Just check with them first to make sure it's a turkey/stuffing day.

Ha Ha! That is Lila. She can be tempermental, though that is her version of being introspective. When Mom isn't around, Lila is a hoot! Chas'ton is beautiful!!!

When I have a taste for stuffing and there’s no turkey in sight, I buy Stove Top stuffing and make myself a panful. I’ve even stuffed a bird with Stove Top. And I’m going to buy a box this week ... my sister’s stuffing/dressing (not sure if she stuffed the bird or just baked the stuffing in a casserole dish) was dry and bland. Ick! I was sooooo disappointed, I love stuffing.

I can take or leave the stuffing. I’m weird and really like stovetop best. Lol. My MIL always loves it so she makes it from scratch, but she uses the giblets in it and I just can’t make myself eat it. So she made it this year and was the only one to eat it. Oops. We had so much food though! We also had yams which I do like and had. Sorry you missed out on your stuffing though.
