The weather is lovely here right now (sorry for those of you still in the cold). And the Pollen is finally slowing down a bit... at least my poor dogs are not yellow anymore :giggle

So it's time for Spring Cleaning.

Sort of. We spent last Saturday cleaning the above mentioned pollen off of every possible surface on our porches and deck. (with the help from a bit of rain)

We cleaned windows and baseboards, much to my kids dismay (yay for the last day of Spring Break).

Now I'm tired of it and still need to do some other things I promised myself I'd get done. #pathetic

Does anyone get the open-your-windows-and-clean-up-more-than-normal bug this time of year. I promise it seems to be a real thing for me. Does anyone else have good intentions that are not quite realized (like me... please say yes)?

I can totally talk myself out of cleaning 10 times faster than I talked myself into it. It sounds like a great idea, but I'll do one thing and give up. It just seems to snowball. I'll start one thing, it leads to having to change around something else, and so on. I have no ocd tendencies toward cleaning & wish I did.

oh I am one of those strange birds that purges and cleans way too much! but............last night my son (DS9) threw up in bed ( a first for him) and he tried to clean it all by himself..precious boy...he smeared it everywhere..

Oh My this is so funny! We do get the yellow yucky pollen here. It has not hit yet.... and thanks for the reminder that it will be coming soon......... lol

Anne! I LOVE that! I have a few 'issues' with vacuuming and dishwasher loading I mean I don't think so but my children tell me I do! It is not my fault that they can't seem to do it right EVER! I have to say I've learned to walk out of the room instead of reaching over their shoulders to rearrange what they just put into the dishwasher!

Two things I don't miss from Houston: crazy pollen all over and the allergies it caused us!
We had plans to do a semi-major house cleaning a few weeks ago but we had the stomach virus hit our house, so those plans were delayed (as was a date DH and I had planned. Bummer!). I've still got to clean windows. A big part of me doesn't want to, but we have a huge picture window in our morning room and the dirt is becoming a bit too much. ;) I also plan to clean window sills/wells (whatever you call the where the window meets its sash) cuz I don't think the former owners ever cleaned those. Dead bugs and dirt. Yuck.
This isn't cleaning but we need to stain our fence. We built it last summer when we bought this place, so we want to stain it now that the treated wood is "dried" but before the wood gets discolored from the sun. So we're just waiting on a nice, clear, not-windy weekend to do that.
ETA: I get the cleaning bug about once a season. Actually it's more of an organizational bug, cuz the kids are young enough that they outgrow clothes every season. And I figure that if I'm going through their closets, then I might as well really clean their rooms while I'm at it, and now that their rooms are clean, I better have DH re-caulk the bathroom tile. It's like a weird cleaning version of "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" lol.

We did some spring type cleaning here yesterday. Took everything out of the storage closet and organized, sorted, then returned what we were keeping.
As for anything else right now:
It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade. - Charles Dickens
Literally: snow on Monday, and the potential for 77 F on Friday.

I love to open the windows of the house even in the winter. It we have days above 50, I'll turn off the heat and open the 2 sliding doors and all the windows.

I don't spring clean. Or fall clean. I have a really bad back and I have a cleaning service that comes in every 2 two weeks to clean the whole house. They do a very good job and my house has never been cleaner. They clean every room except my daughter's room and the part of basement where all her crap lives since she moved back home. It takes them about 1.5 hours. Heck, it takes me that long to do one bathroom, so it's well worth it to me.

Yes and yes! 2 weeks ago we did a thorough clean. Baseboards, moved furniture and dusted, cleaned out closets, cabinets, drawers. We still need to clean windows and pressure wash the pollen, but I think I'll leave those duties to Husband. :giggle

Not so much spring cleaning, for me it's more like, "He's distracted, let's go!" cleaning. LOL!

I love cleaning, or rather the smell and feel of the house after it is clean, and I definitely have cleaning bug days, but when I have my 1 y/o running around, it makes it very hard. I can only clean certain parts of the house depending on what he is doing. He is a very light sleeper, so doing anything near his room while he is sleeping is a big no-no. He is also very clingy to me, so while he is awake I have to be in his view or he flips out! So there is a good portion of the house and the front yard (outside his window) that needs someone else looking after the baby so that I can get there.

But the thing that frustrates me most is that we moved into our current rental almost 6 months ago, and because I have such limited time in other rooms and my little boy is in that very curious, pull-everything-out-of that-box stage, I still have boxes from when we moved that haven't even been opened yet!! People say if you haven't used it in 6 months throw it out, but most of it is our pictures, albums and ornaments and a LOT of my daughters arts and crafts. I did find a box last week that was full of clothes and. our. passports!!! Thank you father-in-law... not!

No, I don't really do spring cleaning. Any big cleaning happens at random times throughout the year.

I do little things, like open up all the windows and clean a little around the frames and I painted a couple of rooms last weekend. My major clean and purge will come the first week of summer vacation when I have the time. Right now is crazy busy at work and home!!!

We do more of a "Spring-get-rid-of-all-the-crap" cleaning ;) We go through winter stuff & toys to donate or sell & usually do a garage/outside toys cleanup/organized.

I still have vomit stains on my carpet from a late night incident with my daughter. I cleaned and cleaned but they never quite came out. Or maybe a pulled the dye from the carpet in that spot. Yuck!

My heater is broken right now so I'm cold in my house and that does not encourage me to clean. I did do a stash and dash in my bedroom though because the tech came on Tuesday to go check the furnace in my attic which is accessed through the closet in my bedroom. I'm home tomorrow for the repair so hopefully I'll stay motivated to do some more cleaning!!!

First off, sorry about the broken furnace! But I have to say I'd never heard the term stash and dash...I'm loving it! I think I'll have to use it next time I'm running around throwing junk in bins lol

No vomit here....sorry. But I have been gone for nearly 3 weeks on vacation and am trying to get my house clean again before the spring cleaning. A recent flood when an upstairs valve broke early one morning is helping with the purging--esp my DH's load of stuff. Doing a happy dance for that one. And I get new flooring in the deal! :clap:jumpey
