Spicy food | Pad Patter 7.5

I LOVE the spice! And I've passed it down to my kids. My oldest can eat salsa even more spicy than I like it.

And I'm currently hanging out in So.Cal. so am loving the spicy right now :)

I don't like a lot of it. I make Mongolian beef that will make your nose run because of the spice. I also make tortilla soup that is fairly spicy (just had that last night). And our local Mexican restaurant makes a mean salsa that is fresh but super hot. We love that though. But that is sort of the extent of our spiciness. I have a sensitive stomach, so I have to watch it. And if it is spice with any sort of acid (tomatoes, vinegar, etc.) forget about it.

I'm a fan! The hotter the better- especially Thai food! SO yummy!

I LOVE spicy food! The older I get the more I like it.

My son LOVES spicy food. In fact, he'll have tears coming down his eyes as he's pouring more hot sauce on his food.

And we both like to try all kinds of different hot sauces.

I like spicy to an extent. My husband says I'm a spice wimp, which makes me think he'd rather have his tongue fall off.... pass.
My daughter likes it like me, and my son doesn't even like it a little.

Although. We tried "chili nut" m&ms last night. Husband and i both said "meh". My son will deal with spice when there's chocolate involved. :hehe (my daughter couldn't try it because of allergies, though)

Yes for me! I first learned about hot during three years in Thailand! Silly me thought green=cooler , Boy was I wrong and this was in my first month there. I lost my voice for a bit. But despite the intense heat, the flavors came through loud and clear. A Thai shrimp green chile is my favorite buy I'm married to a 'doesn't like coconut milk' man. He's more of an Indian curry fan but we both like New Mexican heat better than Tex-Mex. We can both tolerate a lot of heat and that sweating is a natural body cool down in those tropical climates.

btw, water only intensifies the burn as does a sweet drink. Try cucumbers or a dairy which is why there is yoghurt in a lot of Indian curries. I now believe I will make a Thai chicken curry tonight!

I love spicy food! My husband always laughs that if a restaurant wants me to order a dish all they have to do is put spicy in the description :)

I love spicy food! My husband & I are both Latins, but I'm Mexican-American & he's Guatemalan. My Latin food is a lot different than his. Guatemalan food seems more salty & sweet. He has no tolerance for spice whatsoever, it's a little embarrassing. I love Tabasco, but not Sriracha. They're both hot, but their background flavors are different. I have been known to just sit down to a plate of peppers, no joke. My grandpa started me early. 2 weeks ago though, I went out for Korean food. I ate a raw jalapeno with daikon radish. Oh my gosh, it was awful. I started coughing, my eyes & nose were running. The waiter ran to get me water & napkins. My voice was hoarse for a good 10 minutes after. I'd still probably try it again. Lol.

@jesskab My Cypriot next door neighbor raise a lot of food in their back yard and the wife will often pick a jalapeño or hotter raw pepper and munch on it. I'm not sure where she got her 'hot food' genes but she sure has them!

I am am spice wimp compared to the rest of my family, but to others I am a spicy girl. I love to make jalapeno poppers (do you know if you cook them longer they get less hot?). I also like spicy Mexican and Chinese food.

We often buy the gallon sized Texas Pete or Frank's Hot sauce for the family to add to their food.

Baking soda is another good remedy for too spicy food.

no spicy food for me. can't handle it!! my DH loves it and my DS is starting to enjoy eating it. I am still holding out that my DD will be a wimp like me. hahahah

I love spicy food. I bought DH Ghost Pepper potato chips at Trader Joe's and I think I ate more than he did (I had skipped lunch so that may be part of it lol). Funny enough, I didn't realize I liked Buffalo chicken until, like, last year. I thought it wouldn't be something I'd like, but I love it! Great, now my mouth is watering...:pigout

Although. We tried "chili nut" m&ms last night. Husband and i both said "meh". My son will deal with spice when there's chocolate involved. :hehe (my daughter couldn't try it because of allergies, though)
My kids liked their first chili m&m but not their second lol. It's like the little bit of heat took a few seconds to kick in. After that, they were done! Personally, I liked them. :) But I'm sorry your daughter couldn't try one. That must be the, having to watch ingredient lists. :(

Like many others have said, I like enough spicy to enhance the flavor of the food, but not so much that it's just burning hot.

My husband, on the other hand, could be placed on a sriracha IV and be happy.
