AND that's with connections... oy! Poor Caleb has an ear infection and we didn't get home until midnight. I'm on nights tonight and he is home. So it will be tough to get any kind of sleep for my shift tonight. I think there will be a 4 hour wait for x-rays since I was treated soooo well yesterday! ;)

I'm sorry~ that's a lot of time to spend for anyone, especially if you know people there. Hope you get through your shift ok!

Oh gosh. I hope he is on his way to getting better soon. And good luck with tonight. Four hours doesn't seem tooooo bad. Ha.

I work with these people everyday and any time they need xrays I would drop everything to make sure they got done... that's the frustrating part for me. I know most people would probably have to wait that long and I still expected to wait but still... Sometimes it's nice to have perks, not last night.

oh...poor guy! those are so painful!
hoping you can catch some much needed z's before you have to work tonight Renee!
How do you do it? Does he just watch tv quietly next to you while you sleep? Can you ask someone to come in and watch him for you?

I was gonna say "wth did you go to an ER in Canada?" then I remembered that yes, yes you did.

That so sucks. We have an urgent care here that I've never spent more than an hour in and out in. I'd be lost without it (since I stop there frequently on the way home from soccer lol).

Hope he feels better soon!!

My mother in-law is coming at 1pm. It's my first night shift of my 3 so the first one I don't sleep as much anyways, but I know I'm gong to be super tired tonight...

at least she'll be there so you can shut your eyes and rest. Your shifts would kill me!! I guess you get used to it though in time...

Angie, I don't live in a big city so our urgent cares are few and far between and because there are so many people without family doctors everyone lines up waaaayyy before the time it opens so by the time I got home and realized he had an ear infection, it was too late. So I called my Dr.'s office to find out if he was in in the morning because I avoid the ER at ALL COSTS. But he wasn't. We also have a urgent care clinic that starts taking appointments at 9am for the afternoon but I was afraid that he would be in too much pain to wait until today so I had to bite the bullet and head over to the hospital (where I work and interact with the ER staff and even have some of them as friends) and sit for a few hours. Thank goodness the radiologists I work with gave me their wifi password because Caleb played on my iPad for a while and I visited with my co-workers. Still not where I wanted to be last night....

Aw, poor lil' feller! Ear infections are nothing to play with and I hope he's feeling better soon. And wishin' ya some time for a nap before heading to work.

As soon as I read the thread title, I was thinking - and wow, she works there too. What a long haul for you guys! I hope Caleb is feeling better soon and that you are able to get some rest yourself. xoxo

gahh, i'm so sorry! had to do the same with tobias last week, and oh man how exhausted we were at the end.
watching your precious ones being in pain is the worst!

i hope he'll get better asap!

Ugh. I'm sure that must have been frustrating. At least it sounds like you were both able to find things to help pass the time a bit. I hope he's better quickly, and that you got some rest!

Yuck... poor little guy! Hopefully you don't fall asleep at work tonight!

Heck, I live in Washington state and I wish we had something like you, Angie. I live in a suburban-type city and the last time we had to go to the ER, it was almost 8 hours. I know they just revamped the hospital because ours is the only hospital in the eastern part of the county, so I'm hoping that next time it won't be like that, but the only time we've ever gotten in/out of the ER in under 4 hours is when Kennedy had a febrile seizure and the ambulance took us in. We have a couple of urgent care type clinics around during normal business hours, but anything after that you have to go to the ER and pack your patience. It is crazy.

Funny story sorta . . . I had to take my son Bradley to the urgent care center yesterday afternoon for an ingrown toenail . . . anyway, two people ahead of us registered with little boys, maybe 2ish? and both named Caleb. (I only notice this stuff because I was thinking they would be adorable to photograph!! Am I the only one that does that?) When the nurse came out and called Caleb . . . the SECOND Caleb's parents who registered jumped up and went in . . . probably not even realizing that there was already a Caleb ahead of them. The other parents just looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders and continued waiting.
