We just finished another road trip to Las Vegas and it made me realize I am in need of some new songs. What are your favorite move and groove, sitting in the car while your bottom goes numb songs?

And what song makes you cringe and you hope to never hear it again!

Right now "Highway to Hell" and "Back in Black" (both by AC/DC) are getting big rotation around here. Also some White Stripes and Foo Fighters, Shakira (the song from Zootopia), Fitz and the Tantrums, and lots of Adele. Since we have young kids it can be tough to find a mix that we all like (example: ac/dc is probably not the best for my kids to hear but DS loves Highway to Hell. What can I say? I pick my battles. And swear words. :giggle) DH can't stand the song "roses and violets" but it's one of DD's faves so it's on basically every cd I make for the car lol.
DH loves country--not today's country, but the old stuff. It makes me go bonkers. So he has a cd he plays in the car when he's out with the kids. Sometimes he leaves it in my car and when I turn it on and hear that twang, I feel like I want to rip the speakers out of my dashboard. So it's not a song but that whole genre makes me grind my teeth.

#1 song right now is the Chainsmokers ft Daya "Don't let me down "
Songs immediately turned off in our car: anything by Drake or Rhianna. Especially their collab songs. I just cannot stand the sound of their voices. :/

My kid fell in love with the Beyoncé song Halo. Because he thinks it's about a video game. So he plays it over and over and over again, singing loudly with it. I'm starting to feel that grind my teeth thing! @Tree City

I'll have to look that one up @klee73010 ! I'm not familiar with it.

We are loving the Suicide Squad soundtrack in the car right now!

I can't take country but in small, tiny doses. About half a song and I'm done, but I'm a metal head at heart :) Bluegrass, which is pretty popular around here, I cannot listen to at all!!
Justin Beiber gets turned off by me immediately, and Chance with change the station on Adele every time.

I am a pop girl . . . don't care for heavy metal. In addition to pop, I listen to CCM, piano music, nature sounds, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Mercer, etc.

I'll share videos . . . I haven't watched the videos, so not sure of content. I usually just listen to audio.

Love this one by Adele . . . yes, that little "send my love to your new lo-ho-ver" part is one that runs in my head on repeat. LOL

This is absolutely one of my faves right now, Meghan Trainor:

Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez

Calvin Harris and Rihanna

Moon River by Johnny Mercer

Autumn Leaves by Paula Cole (a Johnny Mercer fave)

Yeah, I could go on and on. LOL

This song by Twenty-One Pilots drives me NUTSO and I will turn it every time:

I'm all over the place when it comes to music, but always come back to good old classic rock 'n' roll. On road trips I always listen to Paul Simon (the entire Graceland album!) and Tom Petty - anything of his!

This is absolutely one of my faves right now, Meghan Trainor:

I love this one too, @gonewiththewind! I didn't realize it was her when I first heard it, and had to look it up immediately. I love that the video is so tongue-in-cheek. :-)

Around town, I will just put on a pop mix radio station. I'm not usually in the car long enough to even really pay much attention to it. On longer trips DH usually does most or all of the driving, so we listen to his music - mostly 70s rock. I like it, but not as much as my pop stuff.

The kids and I took a road trip without DH last month, so I finally got to pick the music. Pink's "Missundaztood" CD was heaviest in the rotation. The kids are old enough that I don't have to worry about the swearing, and they spend most of the time either asleep or on their phones with their earbuds in anyway. :P

I can't STAND that Meghan Trainor song that Cheryl posted. Ugh. It will IMMEDIATELY get turned off. So will Work by Rihanna. No. Just. NO.

I'm currently obsessed with Low Life by X Ambassadors, Let It Go by James Bay, Ride by Twenty One Pilots, Love On The Brain by Rihanna, Goodbye Song by The Wild Feathers, Fire by Barns Courtney, Gravity by Papa Roach and One Time by Marian Hill.

I will ALWAYS listen to ANYTHING by Papa Roach. Like, that's a given. They are my ABSOLUTE favorite EVER. My boys like them, too, so we listen to them a lot. Road trip rock-a-thons are our favorite lol

I will NEVER listen (by choice) to anything by Justin Beiber or Bieber or however you spell his stupid name. Ugh.

As I hoped to find someone to go with me to a local (DC) James Blake concert quite of few of his have become ear worms. This is a great one for bouncing around the studio. Sadly I didn't find anyone to go with me.

Then there is this one...

As Cheryl posted above, the Adele song and the Megan Trainer song are both super high on my list right now.

My husband has been in charge of the radio we're listening to, so his playlist has The Lonely Island all over it. Hilarious, but probably not children appropriate. I'm enjoying it with him since our kids are not with us. Lol.

And if you want to look them up, google "Diaper Money" by The Lonely Island, and put in your headphones, and laugh...

@y_baros totally agree with you re: the Rhianna song. And my husband refuses to listen to anything by Beiber. Lol he doesn't bother me so much.

I'm about to add "Emporer's New Clothes" by Panic at the Disco to my running playlist. My favorite favorite song on my running playlist right now is "Shatter Me" by Lindsay Hale

I haven't heard of most of the songs you all mentioned. I listen to the '80s station most of the time. Every time Michael Jackson comes on, I say "Shh, it's Michael Jackson." Then Brody & I say "May he rest in peace" & just enjoy the song. It wasn't meant to be a thing. I just always said it & Brody caught on. "Off the Wall" is still the best album ever in my mind. I still am a huge New Kids On the Block fan. I play their latest album "10" a lot, my sons love it too.

The songs around the house are "My Heart will go on" by Celine Dion (Jamie's fave), various Pokemon theme songs (Brody's current interest), and Hubby's "Angry Music" as I call it. He likes that really heavy death metal kind of stuff. He's in to some cover duo right now that he says is phenomenal & I just don't get it. Yeah, we're polar opposites.
