Danica's post on Car Washes has put an ear worm in my head... and I'm singing and humming "at the car wash" :giggle

What songs seems to get stuck in your head? Where do the songs come from?
Where do you usually listen to music?

Songs that get stuck in my head seem to be those that are sparked by words and random... or some that I pick up from tv. Or that stupid one on the radio about free cars for kids! As soon as I hear that jingle I can't change the radio fast enough. (Though with Spotify now, I don't hear it, lol! And no commercials, wooo hooo) I mostly listen in my car... and at work in the background all day long.

Now, an earworm for you via picture, lol!

Mahna Mahna song! LOL!

Oh this is a fun question. That Appleby's song gets me going. Sometimes when I hear it I make my dog dance with me. LOL We sing a lot in the car, too. Coming home from the airport, my DD and I were playing "our music" and singing at the top of our lungs. The kids were in the backseat and weren't terribly amused. Our car - our music. Hahaha We were jamming out to Bob Seger, Kid Rock, Eminem and Kenny Rogers. Seger and Kid Rock and Eminem are from our Detroit Roots. We lived about a mile from Seger and used to see him at the neighborhood gas station all the time.

One of our friends still lives in that area and she said Seger and Kid Rock had an impromptu concert on the lake - how awesome would that be? They did it for the "neighbors". I still listen to Motown music, too.

The last earworm I had was "Supercalifragilicious" all because of the tiktok that has been on the news in the last few months. And, it was last night! I woke up in the middle of the night and next thing I knew was that song running through my head! What is it about Disney songs and earworms... "It's A Small World" is another one.

I have been listening to 60's on 6 in my car lately with 70's on 7 for a change of pace on my trip to Columbus last week. Otherwise I don't listen to a lot of music because at home the TV is my background noise.

OH EM GEE Rene ... now I'm going to have "It's a Small World" running through my head all day. Oh well, it's a change from my usual "Chicken Fat" or "Henry VIII"

I mostly listen to music in my car ... country on the radio and a mixture of songs from my phone's iTunes (country, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and a few more current songs).

That impromtu show sounds amazing! I love both Seger and Kid Rock... Sounds like your car music would be fantastic! I'd sing along too!

It's a Small World definitely sticks!

I'll have to give these a listen when I'm not at work, lol!

@Memaw2Wm my husband will bust out singing Henry VIII every once in a while and I never knew it was a "real" song. LOL

I don't get earworms often. If I binge watch a TV show, sometimes I will fall asleep with the theme song running through my head. The last major earworm I remember having was years ago - I had The Joker by The Steve Miller Band running through my head for 3 days! I like the song, but that was frustrating! :giggle

I listen to the radio in the car, usually a 70s/80s/90s station. If I'm home, I mostly only listen to music on Pandora while I'm doing housework... so as little as possible. :P If I'm doing computer work, I usually have the TV or YouTube on, but once in a while if I need to focus more, I will shut those off and have Alexa play pop instrumental covers. They have music on at the coffee shop where I work, but most of the time it's low enough in the areas I'm positioned that I don't really hear it over all the other noise. I'll catch snippets here and there, and occasionally someone will start singing along. :-)

Yes, this happens to me frequently. If you've been to a Watch Cheryl Scrap LIVE!, then you know that I sing as well so I can share my ear worms. LOL

I love the Muppet's Mahna Mahna and it's a frequent flier in my ear worm zone.

Other ones that pop up frequently:

Take On Me by a-ha
Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin
Happy by Pharrell Williams
Red, Red Wine by UB40
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

And then something will be sparked by conversation, like "they won't stop" and I'll start singing We Can't Stop by Miley Cyrus. I will change lyrics to suit my needs. LOL

Interesting question, either I would have heard the song and it gets stuck, or someone says something that triggers it. I can have the same song going around in my head for days. Even though my daughter will play some Abba or something else to bump it out, it usually comes back again a little while later. I have no idea if I have regulars though.

So we watched Pitch Perfect the other day. Today at the grocery store they were playing "the Sign" by Ace of Base that the Bellas sing acapella in the movie. Hubby said didnt we just hear this song? And I didn't even hear what was on the musax. Five hours later the intro to that song is stuck in my head.

The songs that get stuck in my head are so random and vary depending on what's current on the radio. When I was really into Hamilton and was listening to that whole soundtrack daily, I'd wake up in the middle of the night and in the morning singing those songs in my head. The other one that I will immediately change the channel on the radio if it's playing is the country song "John Deere Green". It's a great song, but I cannot get it out of my head once I hear it. :giggle

We memorize a whole bunch of history songs, timeline, geography, math rules, etc... in the homeschool group we are in & they are always popping in my head, especially the timeline song. My daughter did something called Memory Master where she recites it all at the end of the year...no mistakes (hours of memory work)! I have to help her practice and since I was the director I had to proof the other kids who did it. I literally would go to bed singing the songs at night.
