real tree or artificial?
Classic Christmas songs or remade funky ones?
Opening presents on Christmas eve or Christmas Day?
any unique traditions?

for me-fake tree this year but we usually do a real one
I prefer the newer Christmas songs
We open new jambes every Christmas Eve and then presents on Christmas day. If the kids get up first they can only open their stockings. Then we eat a small breakfast then open gifts

As much as I LOVE real trees, fake is so much easier, so that's what we do now.
Classic Christmas songs - definitely!
We open family presents on Christmas Eve and Santa presents on Christmas Day.
As far as unique traditions, we start our Christmas season on the day after Thanksgiving with a nighttime Luminary Walk at our local arboretum. The entire place is filled with real votives, all the trees and walks are covered in white lights. They have hot cider stations, bonfires and caroling along the way. It always starts our holidays on the right foot. We went last night and it was so magical.

We've done fake trees for the last 15 years or so - ever since John did fire investigations and went to a few house fires started by real Christmas trees. But this year I have a new 9-footer, so I'm excited! Traditional, classic music for us. And no new traditions that I can really think of!

Real for us, though I'd like to go back to artificial. The real dry out so fast.
Classic songs.
Christmas morning.

fake prelit tree here. love it.
classic songs for sure - i need a new collection this year, though.
one present the night before, the rest christmas morning.

We have a fake tree with lights! No hassle, except for bringing it up and down to the basement. Plus, it's much easier on my allergies!
I prefer classic Christmas carols. I like my mom's and even my grandma's old albums best. Once in awhile, I hear a new version or a new song I like, but I find most of the new songs annoying.
As for opening presents, we do both. I celebrate Christmas Eve with my dad. His family is Cuban and it is traditional for Cubans to open gifts then. And I've always spent Christmas Day with my mom.

We have had a real tree here for the past few years including this year. I love classical Christmas songs but am open to some new ones. :) We open PJ gifties Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas Day.

Though I love the smell of a real tree, the fake ones are sooo much easier, so that's what we do for now.
Definitely the Classics. (Lovin' Pandora this year.)
One gift on Christmas Eve. The rest on Christmas morning.

oh this sounds magical! I wish they did stuff like that around here, maybe I will have to start a neighbourhood thing. Our tree goes up tomorrow, I can't wait!

fake trees. We have two trees and depending on where we are living put one up or both. This year we have none :(
We don't really do Christmas songs, but we love packing a picnic and going to listen to carols on a balmy summer evening. So I guess whatever type they do at the carols.
Christmas Day. because Christmas Eve is DDs birthday and we like to keep them as separate as possible. When I was a child one year I was begging my parents to let me open one particular present on Christmas Eve. It was small and I had no idea what it was. I pleaded for so long and my mother kept saying no, then she finally gave in and let me open it, it was a packet of batteries for another present. I was so deflated and I think scarred for life.
No real traditions here, as we move all around the world things change.

We always have an artificial tree.
I think I like both - classic and the newer christmas songs
We always open the presents at Christmas Eve. This is how we do it in germany

We rent, so we've done fake for the last 3 or 4 years.

I like the classic-classic Time Life songs. [I mean, really, who can cover Bing and even slightly compare?!] I don't like carols to be jazzed up too much, but other songs are up for interpretation. The only thing better than music is CHRISTMAS music!

The kids open PJs on Christmas Eve and the rest of the presents Christmas morning.

I'm kindasorta a tradition wh*re, so yeah, we got some of those: putting up the tree Thanksgiving weekend, buying each of the kids an ornament each year that (hopefully) represents something that happened or they did that year, the aforementioned Christmas jammies, the Jesse tree (new this year), reading a different Christmas book each evening before bed, celebrating my interpretation of St. Nicholas Day (DH is German) and St. Stephen Day (I'm Irish) (really wanted to start this year, but will have to wait until next year), Christmas cookie session with one or both grandmothers, Walk Through Bethlehem and/or Living Nativity, Jesus birthday cake... I realize it's ridiculous, and I'm okay with that. :)

artificial, Classic Christmas and my boys open one gift Christmas Eve, the rest Christmas morning.
This year I'm going to make the wife saver breakfast so I can enjoy Christmas Morning More...:)

Traditions: watching Polar Express and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation dvd's:) and of course, a drive with Tim Horton's Hot Chocolate looking at Christmas lights:)

Our Thanksgiving is in October, so we put our tree up the first weekend in December

we do a fake tree. DH bought me a new, 7 ft, prelit this year and i LOVE it.

traditional songs for me

kids open PJs on christmas eve and the rest of the presents are opened christmas am

we have the whole pj's tradition, we put the tree up the friday after thanksgiving, the 23rd we always make cookies with my mama, and we always go at least once every weekend to drive around (as a family) and look at lights.

Lots of allergies in our home so we go fake too...It depends on what you deem a classic Christmas carol... I love Mel Torme, Bing, Dean, and Frank, but I also love John Lennon's "so this is Christmas", and Josh Groban's "Oh Holy Night" brings me to tears each time I hear it...My grandfather could never wait for Christmas morning to open presents so that's been a tradition in our home for as long as I can remember!

Our tradition has been Christmas eve at our house with chilli and family... This year we will be headed to my b & sil for Christmas eve - they now have a small child so we are passing the tradition to them... this year also will be the first Christmas that we have spent with my mother in at least 10 years! This will be her first Christmas with my daughter! I am sooo excited for that!

Real trees kill my allergies so fake it is...We just have a little skinny tall tree now so we do not have to move out furniture.

I like some classic songs but love it when they remake them...

Christmas eve we usually do presents with my parents(and my brothers family when they lived here). We do our presents, stockings and Santa Christmas morning. We usually do Christmas with David's family the afternoon of Christmas but I think we are going to do it Dec. 18 this year when his sister can come into town.

We did a real tree last year and no matter how much we watered that thing was dead like a week before Christmas...so we are back to fake...and not just regular fake but I got my dream tree on clearance last year...I have wanted a white tree for as long as I can remember so I finally bugged DH until he caved...I am sure the $10 price tag helped lol.

I like all Christmas music...the new She & Him is my favorite right now <3

My MIL does 25 days of Christmas for the grand kids...so from December 1st thru Christmas they open one present a day from Grammy...then they also get to open their PJ's from us on Christmas Eve.

real tree or artificial? Definitely fake. Real are too expensive and too messy with big dogs in the house. :) Especially since one of them is fascinated by anything plantlike. LOL!

Classic Christmas songs or remade funky ones? Both. I think my alltime favorite is Bing Crosby's White Christmas...but I also like Madonna's remake of Santa Baby and several other songs on A Very Special Christmas.

Opening presents on Christmas eve or Christmas Day? Both. We do Christmas Eve with my parents and Christmas Day at home with our son. :)

we do a fake tree. we have one that has oak 3/4 of the way up the trunk, so once it's all fluffed up, it looks pretty real-ish.
traditional christmas songs i think. really most of the time i don't love christmas songs, but i do love certain ones. i think mary's song (or joseph's song, depending on which version) is my all-time fave.
we open on christmas morning, but each year we open one gift on christmas eve. i love that tradition!

We do a fake, pre-lit tree
I like a mix of classic and new Christmas songs. I prefer the classic songs a little bit more.
We let the kids open one gift on Christmas Eve, plus their Christmas pajamas, and then the rest on Christmas Day.
Hmmmm....my husband cooks a huge breakfast on Christmas morning. The Christmas pajamas every year are a tradition too.
