So anybody who read my response to the original pumpkin thread knows I am totally pumpkin-crazy with food. But I am also pumpkin -crazy for Halloween. :heartslub We carve at least 20 pumpkins every year for our display and at least one has to be a "giant" variety. Our biggest had to be loaded by forklift and then moved by four people.

To me pumpkins are absolutely ESSENTIAL to autumn and Halloween. Do your celebrate Halloween? Do you carve pumpkins?

I would LOVE to hear about any of your autumn/pumpkin traditions!!!!

We don't carve pumpkins. First we don't know how to, we don't do this in Puerto Rico because the climate is too hot and the pumpkins will rote (sp?) in a couple days max. Bianca wants to carve one this year and we told her that maybe next year. She is allowed to paint them.

My hubby and kids usually carve them every year! My kids dress up each year as well. However, this year my oldest has informed me he is too old.

Joel & Luke are the ones who carve pumpkins in this house. Usually they each do their own, but last year I am pretty sure Luke only did one. Who knows if they'll do it again this year? :)

We bought the coolest pumpkin carving kit about five years ago and I love it. It has patterns and comes with plastic cutting tools that are safe for kids within reason. We let both the boys carve their own pumpkins that last two year and they have been fantastic! You tape the pattern to the pumpkin and "trace" the pattern onto the pumpkin with a scoring tool and then take the pattern off and use the mini serrated plastic knife to cut with. Super fun!

Cody's at age 6:

And by hubby's:

This is like the kit we use. It'll last for years before you use all the pattern up too!

We usually try to have a pumpkin carving party with my whole family - 25-30 people - and we take pictures of them all lined up! I announced our first pregnancy with a pumpkin with a silhouette of a pregnant lady on it. Carved it before the party and then brought it out when they were all lit and waited to see people's eyes start to widen! Love carving pumpkins!

What a fun way to make an announcement, Amanda!

That's awesome!

We have pumpkin carving parties too!! It's so much fun! I love carving pumpkins. We do the same kits like Karen, but I make photocopies of the page before we carve, so that we can use them over and over. I have tons of books.

everyone in the family has their own pumpkin to carve. they are usually basic designs the kids have drawn on them, but sometimes they'll use a template from a book. We also roast the seeds - yum!!! One of my favorite parts of halloween. :)

We also have pumpkin carving parties. All of our friends come over and we'll eat, drink and carve pumpkins. My hubbies birthday is on Halloween so he loves to go all out.
