I am going to do a digital diary. A blurb book that will be a record of my personal thoughts feelings, likes & dislikes and experiences. As a mom my albums really are about my kids and for my kids and I love that, but i want something for me, about me and in the end it too will be for them but that isn't my approach. I actually wanted this project for my husband and he is in fact going to do one also, because as much as kids know their dad, there is a lot that they don't know. What makes him happy, sad, what he likes and why, who his heroes are, what are his dreams? I said if something ever happened to him, a book like that would be a fabulous treasure. My book is going to include some photos, lots done with a self timer of me in my various fav places, my fave quotes, pics from the internet that inspire, random childhood memories, thankful thoughts etc. it will be simple-white background pages, very few scrappy elements.

What do you think?

What an incredibly cool idea! One thing I am 'resolved' to do in the New Year is take photos of myself! I couldn't find a single photo of myself in 2011. I am also considering some AAM pages, but haven't formulated any ideas yet.

I love this idea! I'm doing something similar this year as well called Snapshots. At the end of each month I'm going to take "snapshots" (think like a photo booth strip) of each of us, and I'm going to do prompts like what made me happy, what made sad, I'm watching, I'm reading, etc.... Each family member will get their own 8.5x11 sheet with the journaling to the right and the photostrip to the left. It will be a simple layout on white card stock. I think it will be really fun to capture each of us at one point of every month throughout the year. I think it will be especially cool to watch the girls grow through the year.

Love those ideas, ladies. I think it is such a good idea to get those parents' (and grandparents') stories down. I know I would have really liked to have had something like that from my grandma/grandpa and mom/dad. It kills me that we don't have a lot of family pics or many pics of my grandma/grandpa when they were early on in their marriage/family life. I don't have any of my dad when he was little. He killed himself a few years ago, and his evil wife won't give my brother and I any of the pictures he had... even if we were in them. We were really poor growing up, so even if we didn't have photos, it would have been nice to have had some journaling from our parents.

When my DD was little, I bought my mom a grandma book that had fill-in-the-blank answers to different things, but I don't think she ever filled any of it out and/or she lost it along the way.

I started a notebook where I'm writing Kennedy little letters about things that are going on with him and/or things we've been doing. It is mostly just boring day-to-day stuff, but I want to have it for him if he's ever interested.

I just think it is so vital to have family history. The kids might not be interested until they are starting families of their own, but it is so important to have.

Wow - Heather, I love the idea. It is so great the your hubby is going to do one as well. I could never get my dh to do one. That is something I will have to think about for a future time. It is tucked away to remember - plus you will have to kick me in the back side from time to time.
