:cry

needed to get that off my chest..
2 weeks ago it was spring holiday here in Holland. So it was very busy at my work due to the holiday.
On the Wednesday, close to my time of being able to go home, I had to go from the kitchen to the counter to help the guests. On my way there one of my managers opened a freezer door to grab something and was so hurried by doing so that WHAM! elbow meets my jaw/ear :dizzy dang that really hurt and the pain didn't go away till the next day..

The next day, a Thursday, is my weekly graveyard shift (from 5pm till hopefully 1am) and past 11pm I only had the drive-thru and washing up. I was bent down to place some trays back. This at the same freezer but the tray shelf under it is deeper than the freezer itself.

This door was opened to start the defrost process for cleaning later. A got a car so was taking the order and went to stand back up again only finding myself forced back down by a huge force..

WHAM! :dizzy:dizzy

My head meets corner of freezer door that suddenly decided it wasn't opened enough.. Colleagues rushed to me and helped me and after a while I continued my duties with a headache and sore neck (felt the impact run down my spine :/)
I had a busy weekend ahead of me as the next day DH had the day off so we went to an indoor playground with the kids and one of his sister and kid. I had to sit down frequently due to headache but I also got the first red day :whoopdedoo and figured that wasn't helping..
Next day I had a mini meet with some mums an hour away, which was fun but tiring. Then I had to bake a cake :giggle cause the next day I was celebrating my 30th b'day (actual day was on a not so handy Monday hihi)
That day I was very tired to but DH was awesome and told me to play hostess and took care of a lot of things.

So on Monday at work my head was being a right pain! But it seemed logical as 1. I had two whams to the head 2. I had my period 3. I was very very busy the past few days.
Tuesday (day off) it wasn't that bad. Wednesday back at work and omg pain shots from the target of collision to my neck and my ears buzzing badly too (very annoying as I am hearing impaired so with buzzing ears it's like no aids in at all ><)
I called the doc and went in the next day. Was shocked by the outcome: minor concussion, exhausted and my neck/back was all tied up in a knot (has been for years but much worse now) She ordered 2 weeks at last of complete rest.....

me and rest? yeah right :gigglep so I'd said I would start with one. She warned me that not doing so could make things worse. Later at home a friend said that she knew someone who didn't listen and it has indeed gotten worse, can't even watch tv for more than 10mins.... hmm ok we'll wait and see. After a week I realized the doc was right so this is my second week at home. Most of the 2 weeks my pc has been hibernating and my butt on the couch or in bed.
Had to go to the doc's this morning so I inquired about going back to work. I have also contacted a physic who massages my back (oh heaven :heartlub) She said that if my head still hurts from being really busy or a lot of noise than my head isn't ready. I could try half days but if I got a headache then I needed to stop and go home.. if I ignore this then I could end up with chronic headache and maybe a burn out.... geeeeeeesh

So called my work to say I needed another week and hopefully then I could start with half days. My head is much better but not enough to work again.. My head is already starting to hurt a little after a hour of pc (but I have tons of CT work to catch up on).

After hanging up I cried and yelled into a pillow and my oldest came to hug me :beat I am sooooo hoping that this 3rd week will be enough.
I am the type that looks after everyone else, I come last.final. I can't sit still for long either, drives me potty ... I feel fine except when my head starts hurting and that could lead to even worse things... I still am trying to grasp that as it seems not real, even though I know it is :tantrum

Helen, you have every right to feel frustrated, and I am so sorry you are dealing with this.

Concussion is NOT fun.:dizzy

Unfortunately it will take time for you to recover completely. Concussion is not something to mess around with. Give yourself permission to take things easy so that you can heal completely. (Why is it always so hard for us as Mothers put our health first?)

Rather take an extra week now to recover, than sit with the problem of headaches down the line.

(((Hugs))) as you deal with this. I hope that you feel better soon.:beat

(((hugs)))
You have every right to be fustrated. Sorry your having to go thru this. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, hope you get to feeling better soon.

Why is it so hard for us to put ourselves first once in a while? Listen to the doctors and do all that you can do to get better in the long term even though I know it's tough for you in the short term.

I hope this next week helps you immensely.

Helen you poor thing! Take care of yourself and try to rest as much as you can ... you can't mess about with your long term health! {hug}

wow Helen, that freezer and you are not friends. How are the headaches?

Oh Helen I hear ya frustration girl... concussion sucks... big time!

But I can also tell you if you DON'T follow the Dr's instructions it can and will get MUCH MUCH worse! I know that because I have suffered concussions not 1 or 2 or 3 times but a total of 7 times! (over a period of about 20 years! though did suffer two concussions in a 2 week period!) Yeah obviously I didn't learn the first few times! And yes the Drs do advise you to avoid activities that may result in further concussions (they suggested I should wear a helmet since I am obviously a danger to myself!) and to follow the strict guidelines they set down...

Hint if you do just as they say you will feel better sooner rather than later! Take it easy on yourself and ask for help... Hugs
