So, we only got about 6.5 - 7 inches of snow but the problem was that it had been raining for 12hrs before the snow came down. We have tons of trees down just full of ice and snow. We lost our power last night, I think this is like the 3rd time in 20 years that we lose power in this area. We are ok, tired because our snow blower's gas tank has a crack and can't be used (fire hazard). Kids have a snow day of course!

Anybody else going through this storm?

Awwwwwww, that stinks, Dalis. It's bad enough to have snow and worse to have all that ice - but to lose power, too. Yikes, is right!! No, we don't have that problem anymore, but we sure have been through that for many many years. Stay warm and safe. :heartslub:heartslub:heartslub

Power is back at our house, my friend still has no power!

Oh gosh! You got it much worse than us! Being closer to the lake kept us warmer and we only ended up with 2-3 inches of snow and our rain never really became ice. But the Catholic schools high schools all canceled and my husband's work encouraged working from home, so the gang's all here! (well, except my son, who got out ahead of the storm and is back at college)

I saw that many states were going to get hit hard! We got a doozy the Thursday before Thanksgiving - nearly a foot here and it came down unexpectedly fast right at the evening rush hour commute. It was a disaster. Stay safe everyone and hoping your power comes on quickly Dalis.

My Chicago family is closer to the lake and so got a bit of reprieve in terms of the amount of snow but all that rain made for some ice so apparently conditions were a little hazardous before the plows did their thing.

My mom is visiting here in OH for Thanksgiving and was supposed to drive back home to Chicago today, but opted to stay another day because road reports were bad for her route back home. It looks like the big blizzard-y ick hit other areas pretty badly. Lots of outages and blowing wind, and of course icy ick.

Hope you stay safe and dry and power is restored soon soon!

Stay safe. We are just getting a blast of cold air...temps dropped about 15-20 degrees through the day today...and some flurries.

I just drove through a winterstorm last week. They got something like 24" in 2 days or so. It was crazy. And I forgot my chains at home! I had to wait in line for an hour to buy new chains & have them put on. On the bright side, I called my best friend who has the same car. Turns out she does not have chains, so Merry Christmas to her! At least I felt like it wasn't a total waste. Getting through that storm made me feel like I can take on the world. Man, that was crazy!

We got hit late last night through most of the day here in Michigan (near Grand Rapids). No school for the kids and we hit the store yesterday before the storm so we'd have a few snacks. It stopped a bit ago so I know the trucks will be out in full force for the night!

Well, good for you. I hope your friend's is back on soon. They were using those big industrial mowers today around here and for a minute, I could totally remember that sound of everybody's snow blowers.

Yikes! I can only imagine - I've never experienced that. We are dipping to freezing or almost freezing temps tonight. We had awful rain and thunder yesterday almost all day. It's just been wet and super cold today.

Glad you got your power back on.

Y'all stay safe and warm out there!

Oh yes! I know the sound!

I hate the mix weather even worse. LOL!!!

They called for 9 to 12 inches of snow yesterday in our neck of the woods. As the day progressed, we got nothing - while just 4 miles south of us got 4" - another area, just 20 miles from us received 17.5" of snow and was under a blizzard warning most of the day! Crazy!! I was a little salty about not getting ANY snow … we had no where to go and I knew our son and his family were all home, so I thought it would be a fun snow day - but - Mother Nature did not agree!

blessings to you. I hope things calm down for you soon. We've got the usual never-ending mist/fog/very wet air and occasional downpour.

The ice is never fun. As I write this, my trees branches are coming down crashing down with all the ice!

It was bad, all that rain into ice right before it!

That's cold, the wind chill here it's terrible!

OMG, girl! STAY SAFE!

I hate it when it's too late to go buy anything because the stores are crazy. I went and grabbed steak and onions a staple in our house.

OMG, you are so lucky! 17.5" that is NOT NICE!

Oh that is depressing weather!

We were in line for the major snow, but it missed us. We must have been just on the northern edge of it. We ended up with about 3" of snow. Just a few miles south of us, maybe 5 miles, they had over 8 inches. Another 10 miles south of that and they ended up with 13 inches. So yes, we dodged a bullet.

You are one lucky duck!

We had some rain and got a little snow over Thanksgiving weekend. Things are cold here and going to get colder. As much as I hate the snow, I'm hoping for a small storm to come through. We're in a bad inversion and need a storm to come through and blow out all the bad air.

eek! I will not complain here.

I am freezing, it 64degrees, and I had to put my heat on and have a hot mug of tea.
Remember me, the 114 in the summer, enjoy the weather girl.
This is like half of what I am used too.

Snow stops our little town. Even a dusting, and school closes.

I don't do cold.

I hope it all goes away soon! Summer is coming...I say that to myself all winter long!
