Snow Days | Pad Patter 1.5.17

...

My kids love and hate snow days. "I'm bored" is usually uttered fairly early... which means that child gets extra chores. ;)

I'm so that mom! hehe I only have to remind my kids once that "I'm bored" means they just volunteered to clean a toilet! lol

I am so jealous of the snow days! I'm in Texas and we "might" see passing flurries tomorrow :( We haven't had a good snow in a couple of years now. It seems like spring weather starts in February. I will live through you all who have snow, I will even mentally plow your driveways!

I wish I could "MENTALLY" plow my driveway too... hehe :carryon

First snow of the winter expected here in NC on Friday night. People are already freaking out. We homeschool too, so it really varies on what we do. Public school usually cancel at the treat of even a dusting. Ice is really more likely and a much bigger problem here.

I am going to go hide this snowy weekend in a hotel with a friend and we are scrapping all weekend. Heading out and hoping to arrive before the first flake falls. Hoping roads are cleared by Sunday so I can get home, although eating on Saturday would be nice too ...

There's a reason why I like my part of California...no snow....we have to drive to get there.

When I was in junior high we almost moved to Boston (step-father was from Lynn, MA). I'm pretty sure I would have hated it there.

We homeschool & my hubby works at home so snow days don't really affect us.

Although where we live there's usually only a couple of good snows a year, so when we have a good snow we all take a day off and go play! They are actually calling for anywhere between 0-6 inches of snow tonight. Ha! That's a big margin. Most likely we won't get any.

We don't normally get much snow and it usually disappears within a day or two. This year is the first in over a decade that we have had 4-8" of snow on the ground since November. It's crazy. I am loving it. I"m not a fan of rain so the cold and snow is so much better. The only sucky thing was my hubs slipping in November and spraining his ankle but it's mostly healed now. Taz loooooves the snow. He's never seen so much snow and he goes crazy, racing around and jumping through the snow. He'll be happy to know we're supposed to be getting more snow tonight and then a bit more off and on throughout the week. We tend to get wet snow here though, not the pretty dry snow like I remember from Ontario, where I grew up. So, it's not fun to shovel, it's so heavy.

Living in Michigan it's rare for us to get a snow day. Unless we just get dumped on overnight and the trucks haven't been out....OR is the wind chill is below 0degrees.

The kids love snow days, and this momma does too, because that means I can go back to bed!!! LOL

Like Julie said- we're really dry here in Eastern WA but we get plenty of snow. But it's the fluffy, blowing around stuff that is fairly easy to drive in. We have a few snow days built into our yearly schedule- but rarely have them. Occasionally we'll have late start- but I can only remember 1 or 2 days since my daughter has been in school the last 3 years. So far most of our snow was during Christmas Vacation so we'll see how the rest of the year goes. Right now it's SUPER cold!

The snow I can handle. This cold? Not so much. It's seriously frigid!!

I know right!? I drove my kids down to the bus stop the last few days & made them wait in the car (my daughter about had a fit not being 1st in line!) I think I'd rather have the warmer, snowy days! I think they're coming! :D

It has to be totally extreme weather for school to be closed where we live.....15+ inches in a few hours or -15 actual temps....otherwise school is on! We have never had delayed school. I think since the boys have been in school, we have had two cancelled days and that was because it was almost -20 outside.

We get SO. MUCH. SNOW where we live. We're in extreme northern Indiana and get lake effect snow from Lake Michigan.

It is currently snowing as I type this. :cry

My daughter had 2 snow days (well, one was because it was too cold but they still call it a snow day) last month. We usually average 2 or 3 a season. They start taking holidays away first, like going to school on MLK Day or Presidents' Day, and then add onto the end of the year if they run out.

They also have 2 hour delays for fog or cold. Since my daughter's district does not have any buses, they often delay so that the little kids don't freeze to death walking to school in the morning.

Since I grew up here, I know we had snow days but I honestly can't remember a single one.
